How to Negotiate West Hollywood During LA Pride

A number of West Hollywood streets and facilities will be closed or already are closed to accommodate this coming weekend’s LA Pride events. The Pride festival begins on Friday and runs through Sunday, which is when the annual Pride parade takes place.

Due to Pride events, the following streets and facilities will be temporarily closed:
• West Hollywood Park now is closed and will continue to be until to 6 p.m. on June 15;
• West Hollywood Library will be closed from 7 p.m. on Thursday to 11 a.m. on Monday;
• West Hollywood Pool now is closed and will open at 8 a.m. on Monday;
• Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard on Friday from 7 to. to 8 p.m. — the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station will live-tweet regarding this closure/re-opening at @whdlasd;
• San Vicente Boulevard will be closed between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue from 7 p.m. on Thursday through 10 a.m. on Monday;
• Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Fairfax Avenue to Doheny Drive from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday,;
• Streets one block north and south of Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Fairfax Avenue to La Peer Drive from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday;
• Crescent Heights Boulevard will be closed from Romaine Street to Fountain Avenue from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday; and
• Norton Avenue will be closed between Havenhurst Drive and Laurel Avenue from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The City of West Hollywood will suspend enforcement of permit parking for Pride Weekend from 4 p.m. on Friday until 11:59 a.m. on Monday. All metered parking will be enforced on Friday and Saturday. Metered parking will not be enforced on Sunday, the day of the Pride parade. Attendees of festivities are encouraged to observe the boundaries of the City of West Hollywood; if parking occurs in the City of Los Angeles and/or the City of Beverly Hills, all parking restrictions must be observed.

Public parking will be available at the following locations Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Special Event rate on Sunday will be $20.

• Kings Road Parking Structure, 8383 Santa Monica Boulevard
• Hancock Parking Structure, 901 Hancock Avenue
• Palm Lot, 815 Palm Avenue ($1.50 per hour)

Sunday special event parking locations:
• Kings Road Parking Structure, 8383 Santa Monica Boulevard
• Hancock Parking Structure, 901 Hancock Avenue
• La Jolla/Havenhurst Lot, 1043 La Jolla Avenue
• Orange Grove Lot, 1114 N. Orange Grove Avenue
• Spaulding Lot, 7718 Santa Monica Boulevard
• Queens Lot, 8459 Sunset Boulevard
• Sunset City Lot, 8775 Sunset Boulevard
• Pacific Design Center, Melrose & San Vicente (Enter off of Melrose)
• Palm Lot, 815 Palm Avenue ($1.50 per hour)

Pride Ride will offer a safe and convenient way to get to and from Hollywood Boulevard and Highland and to reach a destination in the City of West Hollywood during Pride weekend. Pride Ride will run along Santa Monica Boulevard in a four-mile loop with 15 stops in each direction between Robertson Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday; on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; Sunday and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday. Pride-goers may also take one of several L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) bus lines that connect to the City of West Hollywood, including: 4/704, 10, 30/330, 105/705, 212/312, 217, and 218.

In addition, on Saturday an estimated 2,500 AIDS/LifeCycle riders will pedal through the City of West Hollywood along Santa Monica Boulevard and North Ogden Drive to celebrate the completion of their 545-mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Santa Monica Boulevard will be open to traffic; there will be a single-lane eastbound closure for several hours during the day.
