Tomorrow Assemblymember Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) will be honoring West Hollywood’s Andrew “Andy” Harland at the ninth annual “Veterans of the Year” luncheon. In addition to attending the luncheon with other honorees, Harland will also receive a resolution from Assemblymember Bloom recognizing his work on behalf of veterans.
Andy Harland is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran who served from 1970 to 1973 as a radio communications analyst. In 1986, Hartland formed Vietnam Veterans in the Media to advocate for more accurate and positive depictions of Vietnam veterans in film and television. He also has led and participated in local efforts to bring a veterans memorial to West Hollywood as well as national efforts to repeal laws discriminating against gay men and lesbians serving in the armed forces.
The luncheon will take place at noon at the Sacramento Convention Center.
Congratulations to a guy who is the face of Veterans in West Hollywood. Thank you for your service.
Congratulations, Andy!!! You ARE the voice of veterans in WeHo! And they and our city are blessed to have you!
Congratulations Andy!
Well deserved!
YAY for Andy, he’s been involved in WeHo for more years than I can recall and I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations to a great man, and warm friend.
