A water main broke around 4:15 a.m. today at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue, resulting in traffic being blocked in both directions.
According to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, as of 8:46 a.m. one eastbound lane of Santa Monica Boulevard remained closed between Sweetzer and Kings Road while the L.A. County Fire Department is on scene and the the L.A. Department of Water and Power works on repairs.
How many affected restaurants actually closed?
This seems to be the second water main break to go gushing past City Hall in a year the first originating in Sunset flowing down Olive/Sweetzer to Melrose. Maybe it’s time to consider gondolas as an effective means of transportation getting cars off the road while solving the parking debacle.
A not so gentle hint to City Hall inhabitants: “0ur infrastructure is over stressed” and a major flashing red light to be considered as development after development goes through EZ Pass. Hello out there Planners, Planning Commission, City Council!
