Several hundred people participated tonight in the annual World AIDS Day Candlelight March down Santa Monica Boulevard at North Crescent Heights Boulevard to the building that houses the City Council Chambers at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. at West Hollywood Park. The march passed by plaques at the West Hollywood Memorial Walk on Santa Monica Boulevard that remembers those local residents who have died from HIV/AIDS.
Among those participating were West Hollywood City Councilmember John Duran, interviewed near the end of the video above, and Eric Leonardos, a local hair stylist who came out as HIV positive on the recent screening of Logo’s “Finding Prince Charming.” The videographer is Jim Garrecht of ANG News.
World AIDS Day begins officially tomorrow with a range of events in West Hollywood and nearby areas.
The march is organized by AIDS/LifeCycle in partnership with the Alliance for Housing and Healing.
