An armed robber stopped two people in West Hollywood in the early hours of Saturday morning, with one of the incidents captured on a video posted on Facebook.

Lt. Edward Ramirez of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said there was a series of armed robberies, including a couple in Los Angeles. One of them occurred near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Orlando and the other also was on Santa Monica Boulevard. Both occurred between 3 and 3:30 a.m.

Ramirez said the suspect in the robberies had committed others in West Hollywood. “We’ve been looking for him,” he said. “We thought we had him the other day. He does one or two (robberies) and then leaves West Hollywood.”

Ramirez said Sheriff’s deputies believe they know who is committing the robberies and are likely to find him. The suspect is an African-American man, 5′ 11″ tall, weighing about 170 lbs. Ramirez said he’s been seen wearing a black beanie and black clothing and carrying a handgun. He drives a foreign make of automobile, possibly a Kia, a Jetta or a Hyundai.

Dan Caves is the West Hollywood resident who posted the video on his Facebook page of himself being robbed, with an ironic comment:

Wow, pretty damn brazen, I hope they get this guy before someone ends up dead!
