#Boom!, WeHo’s Sober New Year’s Celebration, Has a ‘Superhero’ Theme

On New Year’s Eve, join in the fun and celebrate the first moments of 2017 at the fourth-annual #Boom!, #Boom! #Boom!, West Hollywood’s annual alcohol- and drug-free New Year’s Eve event, will take place on the evening of Dec. 31 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the West Hollywood Park Auditorium. It will bring several hundred people together for a celebration with a DJ, dancing, food and a photo booth.

The theme is “Superheroes” so come dressed in a cape or mask as your favorite superhero or villain. Marky Make Up will be there with free body art, there will be a costume contest and a “Be Your Own Hero” Super Station. At midnight there will be an alcohol-free toast and balloon drop. This year’s event is the fourth annual #Boom! and takes place at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. Admission is free and limited validated parking will be available in the adjacent West Hollywood Park five-story parking structure.

The City of West Hollywood will also offer free special CityLineX shuttle service to connect #Boom! to the Metro Red Line station at Hollywood and Highland. Shuttles going toward the event will depart from the west side of Highland Avenue, just south of Hollywood Boulevard, every 30 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m. with one final departure from Hollywood at approximately 10 p.m. Shuttles will stop at La Brea Avenue and at Fairfax Avenue en route to the destination stop at San Vicente Boulevard. Shuttles leaving from the event to Hollywood and Highland will depart every 30 minutes beginning at 7:30 p.m., with more frequent shuttles just after midnight; the last shuttle will depart at 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 1.

The PickUp, West Hollywood’s free weekend ride will offer regularly scheduled service on Dec. 31 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and on Jan. 1 from 2 to 10 p.m. The PickUp offers a free, safe and convenient way to get to a destination in the West Hollywood on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and on Sundays from 2 to 10 p.m. It travels along Santa Monica Boulevard in a six-mile loop with 15 stops in each direction between Robertson Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.

#Boom! is sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, the Institute for Public Strategies, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the Tweakers Project, the West Hollywood Recovery Center and the Clare  Foundation.
