Some of that money you put into parking meters this holiday season will go to help the homeless in West Hollywood.
Ten percent of parking meter revenue collected from Dec. 26 through Dec. 31 will be given to social services agencies that provide support to homeless people in West Hollywood. Those agencies include Ascencia, Step Up on Second and the LA LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland Avenue. The city is asking that the money be used to purchase supplies such as sleeping bags, socks, food, water and hygiene kits.
The “WeHo Gives Back” campaign was proposed by Mayor Lauren Meister and endorsed by the City Council earlier this month. The city’s parking services division estimates it will generate $9,400 in donations for homeless services.
Too little, way too late. Whrre the money comes from (other than from the city budget). is irrelevant to the homeless, the residents since the City does not run its budget by assigning specific revenue sources for everything it spends. At this holiday time, I think this story and plan is exploiting the homeless, tries to soften the universal dislike of the parking meter system …. and exploiting the holiday season. STOP TALKING and start doing something for all our people in needs, and NOW! you want to be Beverly hills? go learn from them, they social service team, walk the streets and help the home-less, not sitting all day in the office talking about them…or pay other to do they “job”. remember our social services managers making around $200.000 and more, for what??????

What about parking ticket revenue? I just got a $58 parking ticket on Christmas Day for parking outside of Bristol Farms when the lot was full. Extremely confusing signage on Doheney and West Hollywood doesn’t give AF about holidays.
