$25,275 in Stolen Goods: Another Expensive Week for Negligent WeHo Car Owners

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from Feb. 6 to 12 5. The list also includes each case number.

Feb. 6

Vehicle Burglary. 600 block Robertson Boulevard between 12:05 and 1:45 a.m.. The rear passenger’s side window was smashed and a backpack, clothing, cologne, and phone charger were taken from the front seat. Loss $1,000. #00680

Feb. 7

Residential Burglary. 8800 block Rangely Avenue between Jan. 7 and Feb. 9. A bicycle was taken from the garage. Loss $2,000. #00696

Vehicle Burglary. 8700 block Melrose Avenue between 11 p.m. and 1:45 a.m. The front driver’s side window was smashed and a backpack and IPad were taken from under the back seat. Loss $1,500. #00703

Vehicle Burglary. 8700 block Shoreham Drive between Jan. 7 and Feb. 9. A pair of sunglasses was removed from the interior and a spare tire, 40 cell phone screens and a cell phone repair kit were taken from the trunk. No sign of forced entry. Loss $3,000. #00736

Feb. 8

Grand Theft. 8700 block Melrose Avenue between 4:45 and 7:20 p.m. A laptop was taken from the front passenger’s side seat. No sign of forced entry. The vehicle was left with a valet service when the theft occurred. Loss $2,500. #00728

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block Palm Avenue between Feb. 8 and 10. An engine monitoring system was taken from the passenger’s side floorboard. Loss $400. #00752

Feb. 9

Grand Theft. 600 block Robertson Boulevard between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. Two jackets and a makeup bag were taken from the rear seat and two pairs of sunglasses were taken from the glove box of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $2,000. #00738

Residential Burglary. 8900 block Rosewood Avenue between 8 and 10 p.m.. A bag containing a briefcase, wallet, $3,000 in cash, and two iPads was taken from the opened garage of the residence. Loss $7,500. #00742

Feb. 10

Grand Theft (Suspect Arrested) 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 2:35 p.m. A man placed $1,700 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart and left the store without payment. The suspect was arrested. #00753

Grand Theft. 8800 block Melrose Avenue between 6 and 9 p.m.. A laptop was taken from the rear floorboard area. The vehicle was with a valet service when the theft occurred. Loss $1,000. #00806

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block Palm Avenue between 2 a.m. and noon. A garage remote and cash were taken from the center console and a jacket and shoes were taken from the trunk. No sign of forced entry. Loss $480. #00758

Feb. 11

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Palm Avenue between 4:57 and 5:50 p.m.. The rear driver’s side window was smashed and a backpack containing a passport and gift card was taken from the back seat. Loss $550. #00774

Vehicle Burglary. 1200 block Sunset between 7:32 and 10:50 p.m.. The rear driver’s side window was smashed and a backpack containing a laptop, glasses, and checks was taken from the back seat. Loss $2,000 #00778

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between 10:24 and 10:35 p.m..The front passenger’s side window was smashed and an iPad, leather jacket, and $300 cash were taken from the passenger’s side floorboard. Loss $3,700. #00779

Vehicle Burglary. 8900 block Sunset Boulevard between 9:30 p.m. and 12:50 a.m.. The rear driver’s side window was smashed and a backpack was taken from the back seat. Loss $450. #00782

Vehicle Burglary. 8900 block Sunset Boulevard
between 11:20 p.m. and 12:25 a.m.. The rear passenger’s side window was smashed and a purse was taken from the back seat. Loss $175. #00783

Feb. 12

Residential Burglary. 1000 block Sweetzer Avenue between midnight and 3:30 a.m..The suspect used force on the bedroom door to gain entry and removed an iPad, cell phone, and watch. Loss $4,600. #00787

As you can see from the above, most of the vehicle burglaries occur because people leave backpacks or purses or sunglasses in clear view in the backseat.

Also, why does Palm Avenue always appear in these reports? I hate that my small street has so many active thieves.
