Detectives Investigate Possible Murder/Suicide Involving Woman in WeHo

UPDATE:  ABC7 has reported the woman’s death may be connected to a man’s suicide about a mile away in a parked vehicle in Los Angeles, but sheriff’s officials said although they are investigating the man’s death, they have not been able to confirm the two shooting deaths are connected. Fox11 News has reported that the man was the woman’s boyfriend.

Homicide detectives from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department tonight are investigating the shooting death of a woman on Rosewood Avenue in West Hollywood.

A Sheriff’s Department representative said a call came in at around 8:43 p.m. alerting them to the incident. The woman was being treated by firefighters when detectives arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, which was in the 8700 block of Rosewood between Robertson Boulevard and Sherbourne Drive.

At the time of this publication no additional information is available as detectives remain on the scene conducting an investigation. One source told WEHOville that the woman was shot while walking her dog.

This appears to be a sad case of domestic violence. Can happen anywhere. Similar happened at Doheny/Phyllis a few years ago (estranged husband lay in ambush in a parking garage, shot his wife, she lived but he killed himself on the spot). Not a sign of any threat of note to the community, however tragic.

Living on 8700 block of Rangely between Robertson and San Vicente, we walk our dogs on these streets of Rangely, Dorrington, Rosewood, which are increasingly driven through by mad, angry speeding drivers at even 65 mph yelling at pedestrians and “giving the finger” when asked, at a shout, to “slow down.” We are increasingly afraid that to shout out to these hostile, cut-through drivers might result in being shot — given that the “finger” insults indicate a gun threat — if not victims of car pile-ups at corners of Robertson and Rangely/Dorrington.
