Long Beach, Venice, West Hollywood/Los Angeles, San Diego, and now downtown Los Angeles. If you are looking for a place to proclaim your pride in who you are, the options are plenty.
DTLA Proud announced today that it will hold its second DTLA Proud Festival on Aug. 26 and 27. As was the case last year, it will be held at Pershing Square. During the hours of noon until 10 p.m. over both days it will present a blend of local queer culture, art, history and entertainment with over 40 community and retail booths, a main stage hosted by the Boulet Brothers and the return of Summertramp, a pop-up water park that transforms Pershing Square into a colorful urban oasis.
“The DTLA Proud mission is to celebrate everyone’s story, to spread optimism, to grow our community and to expand our definition of diversity,” the organization said in an announcement of the event.
The main stage, hosted by the Boulet Brothers, will showcase both local and national performers. Summertramp, a self-described “Magical Brigadoon of Decadence and Delight” will play host to an expanded water park and will include performances from local DJs with guest spots from other local parties.
Along with the main stage entertainment and Summertramp there will be community booths, food trucks, live art installations, interactive exhibits and a section dedicated to L.A. queer history. A full lineup of performers and DJs will be released in the coming months.
Tickets in advance are $5 for one day and $8 for both days. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting on July 1.
DTLA Proud is soliciting volunteers for the event, who can sign up online.
Actually the 11th is the Hollywood/WestHollywood event.
“Los Angeles” could rightfully be tagged onto Venice and the Valley if that is to return. And including San diego begs why not also Palm Springs? Picking your nit.
