What is perhaps the most popular selfie wall in Greater WeHo (now that the angel wings on Palm Avenue have taken flight) got a new look yesterday.
Paul Smith, the apparel store on Melrose Avenue at North Harper known locally for its bright pink wall as much as its stylish apparel, changed the color to those of the rainbow flag. The flag is an icon of the LGBT movement and is in greater display in June, which is Pride month.
The rainbow stripe design, a collaboration between Paul Smith and Instagram, includes lots of pink to call out the original wall. Also on it is the Instagram hashtag #kindcomments.
The unveiling of the new wall, which will retain the rainbow colors until later this month, featured appearances by Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles, and Marne Levine, COO of Instagram.
The photo above was taken by WeHo resident Dan Morin, who was accompanied by local artist and activist Ivy Bottini to the unveiling.
How about just saying where it is, LOS ANGELES? I would never say I live in “Greater Beverly Hills” or “Beverly Hills Adjacent.”
It’s a fun wall, let’s give credit where credit is do. Too bad Weho didn’t do something like this on the 100 foot long white construction wall on Robertson abutting the Abby……Missed opportunity.
Nice wall. Ivy looks great and Dan’s coat is a stunner.
Greater WeHo?
The store is in Los Angeles. Even the Paul Smith website lists its store location as Los Angeles.
How about trying WeHo adjacent?
Mayor Eric Garcetti = Los Angeles, not Weho.
Nice wall nonetheless, and great Weho models in front of it.
Marvelous!
