Two Thefts in WeHo Last Week Involved Men Sleeping Outside

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from June 5 to 11. The list also includes each case number.

June 5

Grand Theft. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a purse containing a cell phone and cash from the dance floor. Loss $1,340. #02999

Armed Robbery (Attempted). 8500 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:15 a.m. A man approached the front desk of the hotel and lifted his shirt to reveal the butt end of a handgun. The suspect asked for money and was told there was no cash available. The suspect fled the area on foot. No loss. # 02962.

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block N Kings Road between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a leather briefcase from the backseat. Loss $1,000. #02989

June 6

Burglary – Other. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 4:55 a.m. An unknown suspect used an unlocked rear door to gain access and removed three iPads from the counter area. Loss $1,050. #02996

Vehicle Burglary. 1300 block North Laurel Avenue between 7 p.m. and 9a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a laptop computer from the rear seat. Loss $1,700. #02992

June 7

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon (Suspect Arrested). 600 block Robertson Boulevard at 11:25 p.m. A man sprayed a woman in the face with pepper spray during an argument over parking. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect. #03019

Burglary – Other. 7700 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 4 p.m. and 6 a.m. An unknown suspect broke a side window to gain entry and removed a cash register containing $300 cash from the front counter. Loss $1,500. #03021

Vehicle Burglary. 1200 block Genesee Avenue between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed paperwork from the glove box but did not take anything. No sign of forced entry. No loss. #03023

June 8

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 1100 block La Brea Avenue at 12:54 p.m. A man placed alcohol and shoes into his backpack and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by security, the suspect resisted and punched the security guard in the face. The suspect fled the area but was located and arrested by responding deputies. Loss $46 (recovered). #03025

June 9

Grand Theft/ Fairfax Avenue / Santa Monica Boulevard between 5 and 6 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a wallet, cellphone and laptop computer from the ground while the victim was sleeping. Loss $3,900. #030465

June 10

Strong Arm Robbery. Gardner Street / Norton Avenue at 1:05 a.m. A man was walking southbound on Gardner Street when a man approached him from behind and demanded his property. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot northbound on Gardner Avenue. Loss $40 (wallet). #03049

Strong Arm Robbery. 7700 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 9:35 a.m. A man was called over to a vehicle driven by two men and asked to provide driving directions. As the victim leaned into the car to give directions, one of the men pulled a gold chain from the victim’s neck. Loss $3,000. #03052

Armed Robbery. 8700 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:02 a.m. A man was sleeping on a bus bench when the suspect woke him up and demanded his property. The victim told the suspect he had no property. The suspect became upset and stabbed the victim in the calf with a knife and fled the area on foot. No loss. #03054

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:50 p.m. A man placed several food items into a bag and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by security, the suspect began to punch the victim in an attempt to avoid apprehension. Responding deputies arrested the suspect. Loss $19 (recovered). #03062

Vehicle Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 1000 block Gardner Avenue at 4:40 p.m. A man removed clothing, sunglasses, and jewelry from the interior. No sign of forced entry. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. No loss. #03060
