UPDATE:  Detective Steve Blagg of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s homicide bureau said today that no additional information is yet available regarding the woman in her 70s  who was found dead on July 5 at her apartment on Curson Avenue.

Neighbors have reached out with questions about the incident, which some assume was a murder.  Blagg said it is a “death of a suspicious nature” but no more information is available until detectives receive a coroner’s report, which could take many months.

The death was reported around 1:45 p.m. on that day in the 1100 block of North Curson Avenue, between North Spaulding Avenue and North Gardner Street, near Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Deputy Joana Warren of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Warren said.
