The City of West Hollywood is continuing its installation of four pedestrian crosswalks with traffic lights on Santa Monica Boulevard. This week the contractor has continued work on the new traffic signals at all locations, putting in place the signal pole foundations and underground conduit.
This coming week, parking meters in the immediate work area may be labeled with temporary “no parking” signs posted 24 hours in advance. Also, the crosswalk at Santa Monica Boulevard and Palm Avenue will remain closed until the new curb ramps are constructed and striping installed.
No work will take place on Monday in observance of Labor Day. Tuesday through Friday, drivers and pedestrians again can expect daily lane closures in the immediate work areas between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Work during the rest of next week includes:
— Tuesday: Work will continue on underground conduits at Westmount Drive.
— Wednesday: Work will continue on underground conduits at Palm Avenue and West Knoll Drive.
— Thursday: Work will continue on underground conduits at Hancock Avenue.
— Friday: Work will continue on underground conduits at Hancock Avenue.
Construction started on July 10, and it is anticipated to be finished in mid-October.

Santa Monica has a pair of eyeballs painted on pavement encouraging folks to look both ways. In Weho folks don’t see anything but their phones and themselves and dare you to hit them when they never respond or look for a break in traffic. They step right out even if there are no cars following you. Or they step out so they tie up traffic behind while a car attemptsc a turn to Westmount @ T. J’s.

Why
The constriction is going at the same slow pace as weho daily traffic itself. Q: When done, will it slow down SMB tegular rush hour traffic even more? Perhaps, as a revenue generator for the city (they keep doing it. Red Light Cams. How about PARKING TICKETS FOR DRIVERS STUCK WEHO TRAFFIC, AND HAVEN’T MOVED AT ALL IN 5 OR SO MINUTES. People parking in weho and not paying fir it.
