West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man this morning for attempting to assault another man with a deadly weapon near the Studs theater on Santa Monica Boulevard.
The Sheriff’s station got a call at 10:15 a.m. from the Block by Block Security Ambassadors reporting an assault near Studs, which is at 7734 Santa Monica Blvd. near North Spaulding.
The responding deputies located the suspect in a nearby parking lot and attempted to stop him. The man fled on foot and the deputies, pursued him for 10 minutes before tackling him at the intersection of Romaine and Fairfax and taking him into custody.
The nature of the weapon used in the assault is not clear but apparently it was not a gun.
I think this is the same guy who attacked me while I was waiting for a bus on Fairfax 10 years ago. I’m visually impaired so I can’t be completely certain but he’s nuts. The District Attorney threw the book at him when he failed to show up in court. The Judge initially sentenced him to 3 months but when he failed to show up for a restitution hearing the Judge issued a bench warrant and revoked the plea agreement. Given his violent nature back then, this doesn’t surprise me in the least…
The “homeless” (who for the most part are mentally ill and/or drug addicts, and sometimes violent) need to go! Weho needs to (1) impose a new law on grocery stores to install automatic stops on shopping carts that will prevent them from leaving the parking lot to make it more difficult for anyone to steal and live out of them, or abandon them in the residential areas. (2) Enforce public park rules at SMB and N San Vicente Blvd, which clearly state that damaging the property is not allowed. omg… he’s a homeless guy that used to always be around my building at Hollywood and sycamore… he was scary crazy 3 years ago
Thankfully no one was hurt but the owners need to improve their security procedures so that their customers are protected.
These things happen. Don’t anyone blame the “nature” of the business where it allegedly occurred. These things happen in schools and churches too. Just be glad no one got hurt.
