The City of West Hollywood will celebrate the launch of “WeHo Arts: The Plan” on Saturday at Plummer Park.
The plan, which was approved by the City Council on Aug. 21, is intended to guide the activities of the city’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission and its Arts Division for the next five to ten years. It has been in the works since April 2016. The plan’s goals are to:
— Celebrate the city’s distinctive artistic and cultural identities.
— Identify and commemorate West Hollywood’s support and advancement of the arts.
— Articulate a shared vision for the future: securing the position of the arts and culture in the city.
Saturday’s event takes place outside from noon to 2 p.m. at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. (In the event of rain, it will be moved to Plummer Park’s Long Hall). It will feature art from Maria del Carmen Lamadrid Zamora’s “ArtEverywhere” balloon mapping project, projects created by artist Sean Noyce and artist team YoMeryl, and a preview of Ruben Esparza’s exhibit, “Queer Califas: LA Latinx Art.”
There will be light refreshments and music, small WeHo Arts: The Plan items to take home, and information on WeHo Arts’ current programs and artist opportunities. Admission is free and those attending can RSVP online. The entire plan can be downloaded online.
