Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26. The list includes each case number. This report lists Part 1 (serious) crimes for the date range shown and is not meant to be a complete list of all serious crime. Nov. 20
Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. Santa Monica Boulevard/ San Vicente Boulevard at 5:30 pm. A women was walking her dog when another women approached her from behind and hit her on the head with a bottle. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect stood over her and yelled incoherent statements. The suspect fled the area on a bus. #06453
Vehicle Burglary (Suspects Arrested) Santa Monica Boulevard/ Ogden Drive at 2:30 a.m. Three men smashed the front passenger’s side windows of two vehicles and removed sunglasses from the center console of each vehicle. The suspects also removed property from an unlocked vehicle parked in the same area. Responding deputies located and arrested three suspects. Loss $1,000. #06442
Vehicle Burglary. 1300 block Olive Drive at 9 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the hatchback window and searched an empty container in the trunk but did not take anything. Loss $200. #06467

Grand Theft (Suspect Arrested). 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 8:50 a.m. A man removed an unattended laptop computer from a table and left the store. The victim saw the incident and called for help. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect. Loss $1,200 (recovered). #06464
Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Rugby Drive at 5:45 a.m. A man smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a bag from the back seat. Loss $300. #06462
Nov. 22
Strong Arm Robbery. 800 block Larrabee Street at 1:30 a.m. The victim was standing on the sidewalk when a man approached him and asked for a cigarette. The victim said he did not smoke and was punched in the face. The suspect demanded money and the victim complied. The victim waited until the next day to report the incident. Loss $60. #06478
Vehicle Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 12:40 p.m. and 11 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and searched a bag filled with clothing that was sitting on the back seat but did not take anything. Loss $250. #06485
Vehicle Burglary, 1000 block Curson Avenue between 10 and 1 p.m. An unknown suspect forced the driver’s side window down to gain access and removed the car stereo from the dashboard. Loss $950. #06500

Grand Theft (Suspect Arrested). 7300 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:25 a.m. A woman left her purse on the ground while she taught an exercise class. A man took the purse and ran from the area. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect and recovered the purse. Loss $1,760 (recovered). #06497

Armed Robbery. 8200 block Romaine Street at 11:15 a.m. A woman was sitting on the sidewalk using her cell phone when a man approached her from behind and pulled the phone from her hand. The victim attempted to retrieve the phone but stopped when the suspect revealed he was armed with a handgun. Loss $700. #06534
Vehicle Burglary. 7600 block Norton Avenue at 12:50 p.m. An unknown suspect pried the front passenger’s side window open and removed a GPS device from the dashboard. Loss $1,200. #06550

Nov. 26
Grand Theft. 8400 block Fountain Avenue between 11:20 and 11:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a camera bag containing three cameras, lenses, and miscellaneous camera equipment from the back seat of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $20,000. #06548
Grand Theft. 600 block La Peer Drive at 2 a.m. An unknown suspect removed two purses containing cell phones from the backseat of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $1,300. #06551
Armed Robbery. 700 block Westmount Drive at 2:10 a.m. Two men were standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up next to their location. A man exited the vehicle and approached them while armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded property and the victims complied. Loss $12. #06544
Vehicle Burglary. 8265 Sunset Boulevard between 5:40 and 6:50 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and searched the glove box and center console but did not take anything. Loss $250. #06557
Vehicle Burglary. 530 San Vicente Boulevard between 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and searched the glove box but nothing was taken. Loss $300. #06565
Vehicle Burglary. 905 North Sweetzer Avenue between 6:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. An unknown suspect removed sunglasses from the center console and clothing from the back seat. No sign of forced entry. Loss $800. #06576
There was an attempted rape in the alley behind Blazing Saddles mid day about a month ago. A homeless man grabbed a homeless woman and had ripped off her pants. 2 people working near by heard her yelling from the attacker to get off of her and leave her alone. They ran over and called the cops and started yelling for the guy to leave the woman along. Not until the homeless guy heard the police sirens did he stop. He took off running and ran through the back door of Trunks and the cops caught him on SM Blvd.
Very disturbing to hear about the woman being assaulted from behind while walking her dog on SM Blvd & San Vicente at 5:30 pm and the forceable rape on 1200 block of N. Fairfax at 7:45 am. This is outrageous and shows how dangerous walking our streets has become. I personally no longer walk in my center city neighborhood were as I did so regularly for numerous errands to Gelson’s, TJ’s and post office. Incidentally, my hour walks have been transplanted to Beverly Hills, above and below Sunset, where the sidewalks are clean and safe as well as the air… Read more »
WHSD fails rape victims in every way possible. Insult to injury? Taking rape statements in the open lobby. At least in my case.
Sorry – bad form: “Same sex? Why can’t we know if a woman or a man is in danger of rape?” I knew sending it without proofing it might cause some problems. I wasn’t trying to split the genders. To clarify my question about rape: Why can’t a man or a woman know if they are in particular danger from a rapist in a particular area or if there is a particularly vulnerable situation – that can be duplicated – so that others can take more caution? I put the three together – this website could be so much more pleasurable with a better commenting system. Third commenting slot, WeHoMikey remarks on the headline about rape, but doesn’t see the story. First commenter, Henry (Hank) Scott says “noted under” 22 November. Where are the patrolling officers? In NYC, there are foot patrols.
I NEVER see the sheriffs interacting with the community.
The headline says “1 rape”, but the story makes no mention of it.
