AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) on Monday will open its newest Wellness Center in Los Angeles.
The center, located at 1811 N. Western Ave., will be led by Lonnie Calvin, NP, a Stanford-educated licensed nurse practitioner who previously worked for Mission Hospice in Los Angeles County.
As AHF’s largest Wellness Center west of the Mississippi River, the clinic is dedicated to AHF co-founder and AIDS activist Chris Brownlie and will offer free, confidential screenings for HIV other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and provide linkage to medical care.
Also known as the “Western on Wellness” Center, the clinic will be open for walk-ins on Monday to Friday, from noon to 9 p.m. Current services at the Wellness Center in the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center Doctor’s Tower, located at 1300 N. Vermont Ave. Suite 407, will remain the same on Thursday and Friday evenings, 5:30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
AHF Wellness Centers are designed to make testing and treatment for STDs accessible, convenient, and affordable, as well as to encourage regular sexual health screenings for all sexually active people. Services offered include free HIV testing as well as free screening and treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis.
