The whole ‘put of standard’ commentary is just one way of handwaving all the largely preventable collisions and crashes that happen in our streets. No amount of you saving time is worth me losing my limb or life. No amount of convenience for you is worth kids being hit by cars.

Attention is being brought forth on fountain because it is a residential neighborhood. Every traffic death and collision should be given this much attention frankly. So instead of the question ‘Why fountain?’ the question should be ‘Why not the whole city?’.

Alison, I think the attention has been brought to Fountain because it runs through a residential neighborhood. SMB and Sunset run through commercial districts. The numbers would be good to have, indeed, for comparison reasons. But this is a quality of life issue for the residents who live along that route, also. How many accidents were on Sunset and Santa Monica Blvd this weekend. Please report this so we know if Fountain is out of standard numbers for thoroughfares.

There was also another small accident on Fountain and Gardner Saturday…very common to see there, people run the reds during rush hour. Notice accidents there at least a couple times a week.

This intersection brings up a new wrinkle in this issue. Poinsettia Place is in Los Angeles so trying to implement a no left turn on all intersections north of Fountain I assume would require working with the city of L.A.

This intersection in particular is very problematic. Tons of people make a left turn here because of the Ralph’s but it’s literally playing Russian roulette because of the awkwardly placed light. Another light needs to go up here.
