Is Trump’s War on California Coming to West Hollywood?

Tomi Lahren, a Fox News contributor and avid supporter of Donald Trump, says she’s headed to West Hollywood today to challenge supporters of sanctuary cities.

In a post on her Twitter account, @TomiLahren, Lahren said: “I am 100% against sanctuary for illegals. I’ll be out in West Hollywood this afternoon with my Fox team. Come change my mind.”

Since Donald Trump’s election in November 2016 roughly 300 cities, counties and states across the country have declared themselves sanctuaries for undocumented people according to the Center for Immigration Studies. West Hollywood is one of them.

Those cities are under attack by the Trump Administration and so is the State of California as described in a New York Times story headlined “In Clash Between California and Trump, It’s One America Versus Another.” That story cites the sanctuary city issue along with Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ recent announcement that he will more vigorously enforce federal laws making marijuana possession and sale illegal. California voters legalized the sale of recreational cannabis last year, and this past Monday West Hollywood was home to the first shops in Los Angeles County selling that product. Another wide gap between the majority of Californians and the Trump Administration is the GOP’s passage of a measure changing federal tax laws that will have a high impact on local residents by limiting their federal tax deductions of state and local taxes. State officials currently are studying a way to declare those tax payments “contributions,” which would make them deductible.

In a recent video posted on the Fox News Insider webpage, Lahren says: “I now live in California and it’s beautiful. We got the ocean, mountains, forests. And wacko liberals more than happy to regulate everything except illegal immigrants.”

It is unclear where and exactly when Lahren and the Fox News crew will land in West Hollywood. In fact, the newsroom at Fox 11, the Los Angeles television station, was unaware of Lahren’s stated plans until WEHOville alerted it.

Lahren, 25, is a California resident who was born in South Dakota. Earlier this year she began working for Great America Alliance, part of a pro-Trump super PAC that is chaired by by Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani. In August 2017, she joined Fox News as a contributor.

With Lahren’s youth and long blonde hair she fits what has become somewhat of a stereotype of Fox News television personalities. She has a somewhat controversial history, having compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the Ku Klux Klan and criticized black Americans for unemployment, and drug abuse. Her stand on racial issues has led to some calling her “White Power Barbie.”

Lahren also has provoked the right wing, coming out in favor of abortion on March on “The View” television show.

There is no standard definition for the term “sanctuary city.” But it generally is understood to mean a city that limits its cooperation with U.S. Custom and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) officers who are charged with enforcing immigration law. In most cases that limit is a refusal to share with ICE officers information that would enable them to seize undocumented immigrants and hold them for deportation. Most sanctuary cities bar public safety officers or city employees from questioning people about their immigration status and refuse requests by ICE officers to detain people beyond their release date, if they were jailed for breaking local law.

Sanctuary cities argue that such seizures are a public safety issue, likely to lead undocumented residents to refrain from reporting crimes and inhibiting them from using health and social services and enrolling their children in school. Sheriff Jim McDonnell, whose L.A. County Sheriff’s Department provides public safety services in West Hollywood, has protested that seizure of undocumented workers who have not been arrested for serious crimes is a public safety concern.

The City of West Hollywood is one of three dozen government jurisdictions that filed a court brief in March opposing Trump’s executive order threatening to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities. The others included the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and Santa Monica and Santa Ana.

There’s no reason to pay attention to this obnoxious person. It’s not on anyone else to change her mind. If she has a problem with this, it’s her problem. It’s clear she has a lot of problems. Maybe some therapy would be helpful for her.

The truth hurts..no one wants Africa or Arabia to pour into there countries..only the (((people))) in charge do..they force it on us…we don’t actually get to vote for any of it. No one besides illegals want a sanctuary city besides them.. Free health care, cheap or free housing, fee schools, etc etc..more than actual citizens. Only the gate keepers are guaranteed life long high paying jobs, private schools, gated communities..they are evil.. Us normal folks want nothing to do with it..NOTHING.. Stop being politically correct, silence equals death.. The gay “white male” is also enemy number 1.. Do nott let… Read more »

Stats prove illegal aliens commit “massively disproportionate” amount of crime in US. The line that illegal aliens commit less crime is a lie that has no facts to back it up.

They commit 22% of murders, 18% of fraud, 33% of money laundering, 29% of drug trafficking, and 72% of drug possession offenses.

Sorry. But your statement is not true. And the Justice Department document that you have provided a link to doesn’t even discuss that. Take a look here for the facts: http://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2017/aug/03/antonio-villaraigosa/mostly-true-undocumented-immigrants-less-likely-co/

The Third World invasion of the West is all based on Communist envy. The beggars from the Third World do not want to improve their own countries but would rather beg in Western countries. It is statistically impossible for the West which is 10% of the world population to babysit the 90% of the population located in the Third World by moving the Third World population to Europe and North America. Kick the dirty illegals and other foreigners out of Europe and North America because they stink especially if they are on welfare. 99% of fake refugees placed in the… Read more »

So the bigoted blonde bimbo is headed to The Great City of West Hollywood “to challenge supporters of sanctuary cities”, will she present us a copy of an amicus brief she helped write? She claims to be an authority on the topic but, I find nothing of her work citing case law to back her position. Most Political Science graduates here in California can easily refer you to work they have done in this field such as contributing to an amicus brief. What we have here is a “talk show celebrity” simply appealing to long debunked racist myths held by… Read more »

This website is nothing but propaganda. Worse than what the republicans did back in the 70s. You don’t post anything that is truthful from some of the most respectable people /sites in the world. You don’t let people criticize Big Pharma (all sued for fraud), the DNC (wikileaks proves the fraud), etc. I’m an independent. Not a Republican, not a democrat. I own 3 businesses and own some property in W. Hollywood. I worked for very hard for what I have with a lot of pain and struggle. When this country and certain websites block people’s opinions, you don’t have… Read more »

The only thing illegal is drawing an arbitrary line in the sand and telling people that have been traversing that sand for 12,000 years that to do so now will result in their illegal detainment based on some law they do not prescribe too, there would be no such thing as illegal immigration if labor was allowed to move as freely across borders as capital, goods, or services!
