Gay Conservative Billionaire Peter Thiel Will Be Snuggling Up with Liberal WeHo

Will we be seeing Peter Thiel at Micky’s? Motherlode? The Abbey? Or is PUMP more his speed?

The billionaire Silicon Valley investor, famed for his role as co-founder of PayPal and as a board member of Facebook (and infamous in liberal Silicon Valley for his support of Donald Trump and for underwriting a lawsuit that destroyed Gawker.com, which angered him by revealing that he is gay), is moving to Los Angeles. Apparently right next door to WeHo.

Peter Thiel

The Los Angeles Times reported today that Thiel is moving himself and personal investment firm to Los Angeles “because he’s disaffected with what he sees as the left-leaning politics of the San Francisco Bay Area.”

The Wall Street Journal, which first broke the story, reports that Thiel “sees an opportunity to build a right-leaning media outlet to foster discussion and community around conservative topics …”

“Thiel Capital and Thiel Foundation plan to move their dedicated staff of about 50 employees to L.A., where they will continue to oversee Mr. Thiel’s personal holdings…” the Journal reported. Other investment funds associated with Thiel will remain in San Francisco.

Thiel paid $11.5 million for his Los Angeles home in 2012, according to real-estate data website PropertyShark. The house he bought is said to have been the home of Los Angeles restaurateur Dave Chasen, who opened the famous Chasen’s in 1936.

A website devoted to Paul R. Williams, Chasen’s architect, reports that he bought the two-acre lot in 1950. According to that website, it has a 300-degree panoramic view “all the way from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, with the whole city of Los Angeles spread out in between.”

Thiel tore down that house in 2012 and replaced it with what now will be his 7,000-square-foot primary residence.

And exactly where is that house? A Google map search identifies the location as Metz Place, just one mile down Londonderry Place from Mel’s Drive-In on Sunset.

Everyone does NOT “deserve” privacy and respect. They only get the right to their opinnion, no matter how insane that might be.

In a civilized society privacy and respect are essential. Lack of respect is a clear sign of a lack of self-respect and lack of social skills regarding a difference of opinion. Our collective society is fracturing through the uncontrollable compulsion to call folks out with or without facts and or due respect.

Everyone deserves privacy and respect , regardless of their beliefs and politics. This article is NOT news but an uncivilized device for eyeballs in the race to the bottom of rabid comments…not even discussion .

I couldn’t agree with you more. Though I believe he is a tiny minority, reporting on him like a “sex offender” moving into pur neighborhood is Childish and Barbaric to anyone claiming a higher level of experience, such as publishers of this. I suggest anyone seeking to exclude this person from social circles, We (rational rule of law American’s & Basic Civility) can not invite such a person, or choose to leave a gathering/event/social engagement. Not a poorly written smear blog posting.

That’s not his house, it’s the gate to his house that leads up to a much bigger V shaped house with the driveway continuing to another street gate.

J Simmons, Chill!

Variety did a story on the house when Mr Thiel bought it. I found it in a second, as I remember the former owners.

I doubt that Peter Thiel will be hanging out at Micky’s, Motherlode or the Abbey. Hardly his crowd. He’s getting out of Silicone Valley which is filled with tree-hugging hypocritical billionaires, like the head of Apple who uses slaves in China to supply iPhones to the American masses. Thiel is less a Republican than a Libertarian. As for having to hate Trump to live in West Hollywood, give me a break, any of the top hotels or restaurants would welcome Thiel’s business. They’d welcome Hitler if his Black Amex Card paid the bill. West Hollywood has to get over that… Read more »

Stay the eff away from West Hollywood – Peter Thiel. We do not need any more deranged Trumpettes in Los Angeles aside from the boatload of crazies we already have to contend with. I am down with planning a massive protest march to his house once the moving van is spotted!

People need to get a grip here. He’s owned the LA house for 6 years. It was reported back in 2012. And for most of the time after the tear-down, it has probably been a constant construction site as is the norm in wealthy communities. I’m sure he has plenty of security and that no one is getting in his compound. It’s no difference than any other “celebrity” real estate. We hear about it all the time and aside from the occasional celebrity stalker (an unavoidable consequence of celebrity and/or wealth), no one cares. I highly doubt he will be… Read more »

He’s allowed to believe what he wants and live where he wants. But if he shows up to a gay club or restaurant we are also allowed to tell him to his face what we think of his help in getting Trump elected. Free speech works two ways.

Are we all suppose to pick up a stone and throw it at this guy? He’s entitled to believe what he wants and move where he wants without his home address being plastered on the news simply because he’s gay and a republican. Why don’t we create a department within the city of WeHo were we can turn in “these kind of people” so they can be hunted down more efficiently. Geez. News? NOT.

It does clearly read as a call to physical arms against this guy. This is scary time for the City to BECOME LIKE TRUMP “KICK ‘EM OUTA-HERE” speech. WRONG on every level for the to be written like a news article.
