15 Car Burglaries Resulted in $129,000 in Losses in WeHo Last Week

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from March 12 to March 18. The list includes each case number. This report lists Part 1 (serious) crimes for the date range shown and is not meant to be a complete list of all serious crimes.

March 12

Other Burglary. 7200 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. A man smashed the front glass door to gain entry and removed two cash register drawers that did not contain any money. Loss $2,000. #01594

Residential Burglary. 1000 block San Vicente Boulevard between 1 p.m. noon the next day. An unknown suspect broke the lock to a storage closet and removed a laptop computer. The apartment was being rented via Airbnb when the incident occurred. Loss $1,400. #01600

March 13

Grand Theft. 9000 block Sunset Boulevard at 11:25 a.m. A man was tricked into paying a $1,000 rental deposit for an apartment that was not for rent. #01599

Other Burglary. 8100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 8 a.m.. A man used an unlocked front door to gain entry and removed $300 from the cash register. Loss $300. #01601

Vehicle Burglary. Rosewood Avenue / Robertson Boulevard between 2 and 4:52 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed trunk window and removed an Herme” purse containing a cell phone from the trunk. Loss $9,700. #01608

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block North San Vicente Boulevard between 8 and 10:15 p.m. . An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a purse from the back seat. Loss $235. #01617

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block North San Vicente Boulevard between 9:30 and 10:50 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a satchel bag containing an iPad from the front seat. Loss $685. #01618

Vehicle Burglary. 400 block Robertson Boulevard between 7:45 and 10 p.m. . An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two backpacks containing two laptop computers, electronics, and sunglasses from the back seat. Loss $15,000. #01619

Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Melrose Avenue between 8:20 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side door and removed backpack containing a Rolex watch, passport, and two camera lenses from the back seat. Loss $8,000. #01620

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Sunset Boulevard between 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. . An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a computer bag containing a laptop computer and passport from the back seat. Loss $1,200. #01634

March 14

Aggravated Assault – Gun. 1000 block Curson Avenue at 5 a.m. A man was sleeping on his couch when another man kicked his front door open to gain entry and confronted him. An argument ensued and the suspect fired two shots from a handgun. The victim was not injured. #01623

Grand Theft. Melrose Avenue / Westmount Drive between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a laptop computer from the back seat of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $5,200. #01649

Other Burglary. 8100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 12:16 a.m. A man smashed the front glass door to gain entry and removed a cash register drawer containing $450 cash. Loss $1,250. #01622

March 15

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. 8400 block Sunset Boulevard at 11 p.m. A man hit a security guard in the face with his crutch after being asked to leave the bar area. The suspect was arrested. #01673

Grand Theft. 600 block Robertson Boulevard between 3 and 6 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a purse containing $1,400 cash, credit cards, and a birth certificate from inside the restaurant after it was mistakenly left behind by the victim. The purse was recovered in a trash dumpster located behind the business. Loss $1,400. #01669

Grand Theft. 1400 block Harper Avenue at 11 p.m. A women removed two watches from a living room table after being invited into the residence by the victim. Loss $28,000. #01674

Grand Theft. Palm Avenue / Santa Monica Boulevard at 2 a.m. A man removed a cell phone and wallet from the victim’s back pocket. Loss $1,100. #01678

Grand Theft. 600 block North Robertson Boulevard at 7 p.m. An employee of the business took a pair of shoes. Loss $2,200. #01690

Grand Theft. 8900 block Rosewood Avenue between 9 p.m. and 4 p.m. the next day. An unknown suspect removed a guitar from the rear storage area of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $2,500. #01762

March 16

Vehicle Burglary. 500 block Westmount Drive between 12:15 and 12:45 p.m. An unknown suspect pried the driver’s side door handle open to gain access and removed a laptop computer and computer bag, camera lens and bag, makeup, and a handbag from the rear storage area. Loss $25,000. #01689

Vehicle Burglary. Almont Drive / Melrose Avenue between 11:40 p.m. and 2:15 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack from the rear floorboard. The backpack was empty and was found on the street when the woman who owned the car returned to her vehicle. Loss $200 (window). #01705

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Sweetzer Avenue between 11 p.m. and 1 p.m. the next day. An unknown suspect ransacked the interior and removed three computer hard drives, a checkbook, and two Korean wedding dresses from the trunk. No sign of forced entry. Loss $2,200. #01717

March 17

Grand Theft. 8300 block Santa Monica Boulevard 4:15 a.m. .An unknown suspect removed a suitcase and a keyboard from an unlocked storage locker. #01709

Residential Burglary (Attempt). 1100 block Formosa Avenue, between 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. the next day. An unknown suspect used force on the front door in an attempt to gain entry but was unsuccessful. Loss $1,000 (damaged door). #01738

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:43 p.m. A homeless man removed two tents, two sleeping bags and a skateboard and left the store without payment. When confronted by store security, the suspect attempted to hit the victim with the skateboard and one of the tents. A struggle ensued and the suspect was detained by additional security officers. The suspect was arrested. Loss $320 (recovered). #01725

Vehicle Burglary. 8330 Santa Monica Boulevard between 11:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed four makeup kits with makeup tools inside and $1,500 cash from the back seat. Loss $55,000 #01720

Vehicle Burglary. 1029 Havenhurst Drive between 8:50 and 9:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and the rear driver’s side window and removed a purse from the passenger compartment and a laptop computer from the back seat. Loss $2,720. #01726

March 18

Vehicle Burglary. 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 12:30 and 6:15 p.m. . An unknown suspect removed a purse containing $50 cash and a cell phone from the front floorboard area. No sign of forced entry. Loss $400. #01745

Vehicle Burglary. San Vicente Boulevard / Beverly Boulevard between 9 and 10 p.m. .An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a gym bag containing a wallet, shoes, and headphones from the back seat. Loss $530. #01749
