Last Week in WeHo Was Lucrative for Car Thieves and One Apparent Prostitute

Last week was a good one for car thieves (but not so much for car owners) and at least one apparent prostitute in WeHo. There were 28 car break-ins causing $41,425 in loss and damages. And a woman stole an $8,000 from a man who invited her to his hotel room.

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from April 9 to 15. The list includes each case number. This report lists Part 1 (serious) crimes for the date range shown and is not meant to be a complete list of all serious crimes.

April 9

Residential Burglary. 7500 block Norton Avenue between 2:03 and 2:05 a.m. An unknown suspect used the keypad to gain entry and removed $40,000in cash from the residence. #02427

Other Burglary. 7500 block Lexington Avenue between 9 a.m. and 11:58 p.m. An unknown suspect pried the lock off a storage unit and ransacked the interior. Property from inside the storage unit was thrown on the ground but nothing was taken. Loss $50. #02283

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Melrose Avenue between 11 and 11:24 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front and rear passenger’s side windows and removed a backpack from the back seat. Loss $620. #02271

Vehicle Burglary. Huntley Drive / Melrose Avenue between 9:10 and 10:50 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a passport, checkbook, and iPad from the front seat. Loss $2,300. #02272

April 10

Grand Theft (Suspect Arrested). 8700 block Melrose Avenue between 3:30 and 4 p.m. A man removed a backpack containing a drone, camera gear, and passport from the backseat and a duffel bag containing a purse and iPad from the backseat of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $14,000. The suspect was arrested on 04/13/2018 and the property was recovered. #02288

Grand Theft. 600 block North Robertson Blvd between 8:45 and 10 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a leather handbag containing a wallet, headphones, keys, and IPhone from inside the club. Loss $1,040. #02324

April 11

Grand Theft. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at 3 a.m. A women removed a Rolex watch from a nightstand after being invited into the hotel room by the victim. Loss $8,000. #02316

Vehicle Burglary. Melrose Avenue / Westmount Drive between 4:15 and 5:15 pm. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a camera lens from the front seat. Loss $600. #02313

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block North Fairfax Avenue at 7:42 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window to one vehicle and the rear passenger’s side window to another vehicle. One of the suspects removed a backpack containing a laptop computer and computer mouse from the first vehicle and a backpack containing an iPad, shoes, and swimming goggles from the second vehicle. Vehicle Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. A suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a leather bag from the back seat of the vehicle. Loss $2,250. #02343

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 6 and 8:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side windows to two vehicles. One of the suspects removed a backpack containing an iPhone, headphones, keys, lunch box, and sporting tickets from the interior of the first vehicle. April 14

Aggravated Assault. 8200 block Sunset Boulevard at 2:35 a.m. Two men were arguing on the sidewalk when the victim stepped between them and tried to intervene. The victim was kicked in the chest, which caused him to fall backwards and hit his head on a cement planter. The victim suffered a cut requiring stitches. #02388

Aggravated Assault. 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:20 a.m. A man hit another man with a baseball bat after the victim tried to open the suspect’s motel room door. #02414

Grand Theft. 7500 block Hampton Avenue between 1 and 2 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a laptop computer and computer mouse from the backseat and $3 from the center console of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $1,275. #02439

Other Burglary. 7400 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 12:30 a.m. An unknown suspect used a balcony to gain access and removed $140 from the cash register. #02391

Vehicle Burglary. Robertson Blvd / Ashcroft Avenue between 10:30 p.m. and 3:10 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and pushed the rear seats down but did not take anything. Loss $300. #02421

Vehicle Burglary. Alfred Street / Santa Monica Blvd between 11 p.m. and 10:45 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front and rear passenger’s side windows and the rear driver’s side window and removed an emergency kit and a briefcase containing a laptop computer and computer accessories from the trunk area. Strong Arm Robbery. 1000 block North La Brea Avenue at 6:12 p.m. A man pulled a cell phone from its security cord and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by store security, the suspect pushed the victim out of the way and ran from the store. Loss $800. #02433
