WeHo Public Safety Awards Take Place on Monday

public safety awards, city of west hollywoodOn Monday, the City of West Hollywood will honor the Los Angeles LGBT Center and two public safety officers in the annual Public Safety Awards event.

Those honored are:

—  West Hollywood Sheriff’s Community Impact Team, which will receive the Lt. James Farrell Deputy of the Year Award

– Captain Roy Ortiz, L.A. County Fire Department, who will receive the Firefighter of the Year award.’

— The LA LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland, which will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Public Safety award.

The awards are given to those who have made extraordinary efforts to volunteer for public safety programs or events, have made efforts at strengthening law enforcement and community partnerships, have dedicated many hours of service to the Sheriff’s Department or Fire Department, or have demonstrated leadership in any variety of ways that have contributed to a safer community.

Interest in public safety? It is often difficult to walk down the sidewalks on crowded weekend nights at the bars without being burnt pushed into the hot open flame hot dog carts parked in the sidewalks. Aren’t these carts against the law? Aren’t they taking money from therestaurants? They come into things like the Pride weekend blocking the sidewalks and filling the event with smoke. Care about public safety, the restaurant businesses, quality of public air environment? What’s up?
