A crowd gathered at the City Council Chambers Monday night to celebrate the winners of the city’ annual Public Safety Awards. Those who received the awards were:
The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Community Impact Team, which received the Lt. James Farrell Deputy of the Year Award
Captain Roy Ortiz of L.A. County Fire Department, who received the Firefighter of the Year award.
The LA LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland, which received the Outstanding Contribution to Public Safety award. It was represented by Kris Namath.
The awards are given to those who have made extraordinary efforts to volunteer for public safety programs or events, have made efforts at strengthening law enforcement and community partnerships, have dedicated many hours of service to the Sheriff’s Department or Fire Department, or have demonstrated leadership in any variety of ways that have contributed to a safer community.
I’m all for praising law enforcement that protects everyone’s safety & life.
However, we continue to live in a situation of way too high Crime and great for the winner. We need more like the winners (or just able bodied competent Sheriff Dupities).
No disrespect to the winning award recipient.
But we still need more focus and assets for all the Losers, to wit: the people living in or visiting WeHo and fall victim to the high Crime rates of all type & degrees of seriousness.
