This last week was the height of West Hollywood’s LA Pride week with some amazing events and the Pride Festival and Parade.
For those who do not know, LA Pride is hosted by Christopher Street West in the heart of the City of West Hollywood on the second weekend of June. However, there is an entire month of events that transpire before and after this specific weekend. The ‘One City One Pride’ events are hosted by the City of West Hollywood and span a month long of art, music and LGBTQ+ celebrations for every aspect of our community.
Starting on June 6 was West Hollywood Mayor John Duran’s pre-Pride event at the WeWork offices in the Pacific Design Center. The next day there was a joint mixer with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce at the Abbey West Hollywood. Also, that same night was an event by Queerty honoring 50 individuals who have helped push the needle for the LGBTQ+ community, and a special performance by Ada Vox from American Idol.
Friday was the launch of the festival with an amazing kick off with the Dyke March hosted by the City of West Hollywood. All of our lesbian sisters came out to show that we will never stop fighting for the rights of women and our LGBTQ+ community. Then Saturday came and the festival was in full swing with thousands in line ready to attend the LA Pride Festival, and Sunday’s LA Pride Parade was equally as packed with over 150,000 people watching local businesses come together to celebrate Pride. It was a full and amazing week of celebration, dancing, singing and showing the world we are here and queer and never going away.
