It’s official, and the details have been worked out. The City of West Hollywood will convene a panel moderated by West Hollywood Mayor John Duran to discuss the latest Washington, D.C., political developments.

Michael Avenatti, Daniels’ lawyer, at the May 23 “Stormy Daniels Day” event in West Hollywood

“An Update on Washington D.C. Politics: the Mueller Investigation, Human Rights and Immigration, and the Future of Resistance” will feature Michael Avenatti, the attorney who filed a lawsuit against President Trump on behalf of Stephanie Clifford (also known as Stormy Daniels); Steve Madison, partner at the Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP law firm and a former federal prosecutor; and Mariana Magaña Gamero, regional policy advocate at Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), an immigrant rights organization.

The event will take place on July 26 and is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to RSVP at: http://bit.ly/WeHoDC.

It will take place at 7 p.m. on the campus of the Center for Early Education, the private school at 563 N. Alfred St. in West Hollywood. “Due to construction on campus, the interim main entrance to the school is located off of Alfred Street,” says an announcement of the event. “Attendees can access the entrance from the pedestrian gate on Clinton Avenue or from Rosewood Avenue to the south.”

Because on-site parking is extremely limited, those attending are encouraged to take alternate modes of transportation, such as public transit or ride share services.

Our not so dear Mayor Duran continues his trajectory of self promotion oblivious to any concerns of integrity, ethics or fair play. He is like veritable “fly paper” in collecting anyone of note through tangential causes.

Not viable! Hopefully folks won’t attend and those that do, will hopefully speak out “respectfully” about the lack of respect this mayor demonstrates every day of his term.

I hate seeing the City giving that sleaze ball attorney Michael Avenatti a platform. While Stormy Daniel’s lawsuit is perhaps titillating it is hardly ranks as a national issue compared to the treason in Helsinki, creating a reactionary Supreme Court, tax breaks for the rich, the gutting of environmental and consumer protections and ill conceived “trade wars” with the entire world. With Avenatti present we could not attract quality speakers such as our Congress members, Adam Schiff or Ted Lieu. With narcissistic sociopaths at the helm in Washington and West Hollywood, we are in big trouble.

The issues you mentioned are very important need to be addressed but, do keep in mind that many times the “clients” an attorney represents are NOT always an accurate reflection of where they stand politically. The late Johnnie Cochran is known for his successful representation of a celebrity athlete on trial for a double murder, whereas his far more significant and extensive contributions to Civil Rights have gone completely unnoticed by the general public. True Michael Avenatti has a reactionary porn star for a client but, he has made considerable efforts to establish himself as an Activist Attorney and, these… Read more »

He’s not focusing on Trump really. He’s focusing on TV coverage for himself. He just loves publicity. He would say it is for the City, but it is really for himself. He is an embarrassment that should have never been made Mayor.

More like, if he can show that a bunch of right-wing racist, sexist, homophobic reactionaries are actively hating on him, while diverting any attention to relations with wealthy capitalist developers (some of the MOST reactionary white males), it will give him all the political credibility he needs!
