Terribly tragic – rest in peace, condolences to friends and family. It is sad we do not get much follow up investigations into these issues so we can stop this from happening again.

It would be interesting for a update as to why the boulevard was closed for hours after the crash. I encountered the street closed on my way home at about 10:00PM. I went out to eat about 2:00AM and it was still closed with sheriffs and others just standing around. It was my guess at the time there had been a fatality.

Mike,

Many times with a fatal collision, the area will remain blocked off to allow accident investigators from LAPD or LASD to come to the scene and recreate the accident. This involves photographs, chalking up the roads, a number of different measurements, etc. I would guess that it is harder to summon a traffic investigator at the later hours, plus harder to do the work in the dark.
