The City of West Hollywood is inviting artists, arts organizations and creative businesses to come together Wednesday (Sept. 12) for an arts roundtable.

The event takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the community meeting room at West Hollywood Library, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Attendance is free. Parking in the adjacent five-story parking structure also is free with a ticket validated at the event. Those attending are asked to RSVP online.

The roundtable offers a place for information sharing, networking, interactive presentations and other special programming. It was inspired by WeHo Arts: The Plan, the city’s community-based cultural planning process.

Those attending the roundtable will be able to connect and work through ideas directly with staff of the city’s Arts Division, local business owners and others. The Arts Division also will send a survey in advance to those who RSVP to generate a topic for the discussion. Small snacks and beverages will be provided.

The city’s Arts Division also has launched a Facebook group to provide “real time” updates on opportunities available for artists. That’s where the Arts Division will list the open calls, grants, and development opportunities it is aware of.

The city’s Arts Grant cycle currently is open. There are opportunities for both individual artists (One City One Pride grant, Transgender Arts Initiative grant, Individual Artist grant ) and 501(c)3 non-profits (Arts Project Grant, Organizational Development Grant). Deadlines are Sept. 13 for most grants. More information and application forms are available on the city’s website.

And the city also has an artist registry for West Hollywood residents who are artists. The registry is a formal database of the individuals in the West Hollywood community with active and professional art practices, of all disciplines. The registry’s database is maintained by the city’s Arts Division staff. It is available to outside parties upon request. To date, the city has used the database to share city grant and commission opportunities, exhibition calls and requests for proposals and qualifications. Those interested in being included in the registry can apply online.
