West Hollywood suffered 33 vehicle burglaries last week, with 15 of them occurring during the late evening hours of Aug. 31 and into the early morning hours of Sept. 1. All of the incidents were window smashes targeting property left visible inside the vehicles, the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station reports. According to the station, the suspects targeted cars on Melrose Avenue between Doheny Drive and Robertson Boulevard.

Following is the weekly report by the Sheriff’s Station of serious crimes that took place in WeHo from Aug. 27 through Sept. 2. It lists only Part 1 or serious crimes and not misdemeanors.

In a change from previous policy, the Sheriff’s Station has omitted the financial impact of the crimes. The Sheriff’s Station is hoping that by not citing the value of items stolen from parked cars, car thieves will be less likely to break into vehicles. Whether or not that is successful will be determined in coming weeks.
