WeHo, the Creative City, May Be Home to America’s First Sex Robot Brothel

Uber, Lyft. Airbnb, Misterbnb. Tinder, Grindr, Scruff. Pavemint. And soon, Eve’s Robot Dreams.

The latest disruptive technology to arrive in West Hollywood was announced today in a story published in the U.K.’s Daily Star Online. That would be sex robots.

Unicole Unicron, the CEO of Eve’s Robot Dreams, said she is opening a digital brothel in West Hollywood next year. It appears the timing of the opening may depend on the success of an IndieGoGo funding campaign now underway. With 13 days left, Unicron has raised $2,512 of her $155,000 goal.

The IndieGoGo site describes Eve’s as “the first consent-focused robot brothel in the world. Guests can visit in the futuristic cafe where they can get to know the world’s first companion robots. After they have met, guests have the option to spend time with their favorite robot in a private room.

“Guests can begin building a relationship with their new companion by downloading the Realbotix app on their phone. When they visit Eve’s they can either interact with the companion bot that they have already started to get to know, or with one who they haven’t yet met.

“Founded by Unicole Unicron, a robot ethicist and writer for Realbotix’s Real Doll X product Harmony, Eve’s is a conscious endeavor.”

In addition to the downloadable app, Realbotix also manufactures the sex robots – both male and female.

“Realbotix is a project dedicated to integrating cutting edge emerging technologies with silicone doll artistry to provide a bridge between technology and humankind on emotional, mental, and physical levels,” says the Realbotix website. “We’re working to create the next generation of the well-known anatomically correct RealDolls, which we intend to blend with Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, touch sensors, internal heaters, virtual and augmented reality interfaces.

“These new dolls will have an animated face synchronized with an application that users can talk to and interact with. The purpose behind the project is to create an illusion, or alternative to reality when it comes to a relationship with a doll. These RealDolls will have the ability to listen, remember and talk naturally, like a living person. They will have hyper-realistic features, warmth, and sensors that react to touch.”

Eve’s interior will be designed by artist Marina Fini as a healing space.

According to the Daily Star, a number of sex-robot brothels already have opened in Europe. The fact that the first in the United States will open in West Hollywood is likely to enhance the city’s image for being in the forefront of creativity. And for its embracement of sex. Eve’s only local competitors are likely to be some of the many massage parlors in town and the hookup apps, whose users often express frustration with prospective companions not showing up.

In addition to the regular sexual experience, which Unicron hopes will begin with a cup of coffee in the café before a visit to a private, Eve’s Robot Dreams offers an unusual and expensive opportunity. For $10.000 a man or woman can engage sexually with a virgin robot.

“The concept of virginity will always be appealing in society where women are highly sexualised while their sexual purity is simultaneously held in high regard,” Unicole told the Daily Mail. Women also will be given an opportunity to have sex with male virgins, something data shows isn’t easy to find in real life.

Unicron’s IndieGoGo site identifies her as based in Pasadena. An article on Vice describes her as former IBM employee who is the the founder of Unicult, a feminist digital cult open only to women and non-binary people.

WEHOville has been unable to reach her directly for a comment on her plans. It is unclear how the digital brothel concept will be received by staffers at City Hall, which currently doesn’t offer brothel business permits.
