The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s political action committee has endorsed the three incumbents and challengers Marquita Thomas and Brendan Hood in the March 5 election for three seats on the West Hollywood City Council.
The PAC also endorsed Measure B, a measure on the March 5 ballot that asks voters to affirm the City Council’s decision to permit the construction of the Arts Club on Sunset Boulevard. That project is opposed by Unite Here Local 11, the restaurant and hotel employees union, which was able to secure signatures of 10% of the city’s voters to put the measure on the ballot in the hope the Council’s decision would be rescinded.
The PAC did not announce a position on Measure Y, which would authorize the city to levy a 7.5% tax on recreational cannabis sales.
The incumbents endorsed by the PAC are John D’Amico, Lindsey Horvath and Lauren Meister.
Marquita goes on FB rants hating on gay men and dismissing trans people. She was also part of the shady dealings at CSW. She is not fit to serve the community.
At the West Hollywood West ice cream social Mr. Hood advocated for a reduction in affordable housing levels from 20% to 15% and upzoning the entire city from R1 to R2, from R2 to R3, and R3 to R4 and the rest to the moon. It is clear that that this would be a developers dream and a nightmare to local residents who are displaced. This type of policy is in the Chambers interest because they care little about the residents and our neighborhoods, affordable housing or seniors being displaced.
Wow, this whole clan sound like fronts for the “Yes In My Backyard” developers that only want to create more luxury housing at everyone’s expense. I wonder how much they’re being paid under the table to propagate their false and deceiving narrative.
