14 Car Thefts and Two Nightclub Thefts in WeHo Last Week

Another spate of car break-ins were reported in West Hollywood last week, along with two thefts from nightclub customers. What follows is a list of all Part I (serious) crimes reported in West Hollywood from March 4 to 10, with case numbers included.

March 4

Strong Arm Robbery. 7100 block Santa Monica Blvd at 5:31 p.m. A man removed clothing from a display area and left the store without payment. When confronted by store security, the suspect swung his arms and hit an employee in the neck. #01406

March 5

Other Burglary. 9000 block Cynthia Street between 4:40 and 4:48 p.m. A man pried a door open that leads to the lobby area of the building and removed several packages from the mail room. #01433

Vehicle Burglary. 1100 block Poinsettia Drive between 8  p.m. and 8 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #01442

Vehicle Burglary. 1200 block North Fuller between 8 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed property from the front floorboard. #01444

March 6

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. 9000 block Santa Monica Blvd at 2 a.m.. A man hit another man three times in the face with a glass bottle during a dispute inside the club. #01440

Grand Theft. 7100 block Santa Monica Blvd at 5:55 p.m. Two men placed several boxes of perfume into a bag they were carrying and left the store without payment. #01455

Grand Theft. 7100 block Santa Monica Blvd at 8:42 p.m. Two men removed three cell phones from a display area and left the store without payment. #01458

Other Burglary. 600 block North Robertson Blvd at 2:10 a.m. A man used an unlocked rear door to gain entry and removed three bottles of champagne from the dining room. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #01439

 Other Burglary. 8600 block Holloway Drive between 10 p.m. and 7:40 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed a window to gain access to the building. It’s unclear if any items were taken. #01467

Vehicle Burglary. 7900 block Santa Monica Blvd between 1 and 2 a.m.. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed property from the front seat. #01451

March 7

Aggravated Assault – Knife (Suspect Arrested). 8500 block Sunset Blvd between 8:15 and 8:20 p.m. A man punched a parking lot attendant two times in face after being told he could not sleep in the parking structure. Moments later, the suspect attempted to stab the victim but the victim was able to step away. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect. #01481

Grand Theft. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at 12:35 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a purse that was hanging on the back of the victim’s chair. #01471

Other Burglary. 1200 block North Formosa Avenue at 5:40 a.m. A man and a women used force to open the front gate and gain access to the building lobby. The suspects used a mail key to open a wall of mailboxes and removed mail. #01470

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 7100 block Santa Monica Blvd at 2:40 p.m. A man removed several items from a display area and left the store without payment. When confronted by store security, the suspect shoved and punched the victim in the face in an attempt to escape. The suspect was allowed to leave and was arrested by responding deputies. #01475

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Sunset Blvd between 5:30 p.m. and 12:20 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the trunk. #01487

Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Melrose Avenue between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #01488

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block West Knoll Drive between 9:15 p.m. and 8:20 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side auxiliary window to gain access but the victim was unsure if any items had been removed. #01491

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block West Knoll Drive between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window to gain access but the victim was unsure if any items had been removed. #01492

Vehicle Burglary. 7500 block Santa Monica Blvd between 10 p.m. and 7:45 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and pushed the rear seat down in an attempt to reach a duffel bag in the trunk area but was unsuccessful. #01493

Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Hilldale Avenue between 10 p.m. and midnight. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and pushed the back seat down but did not take anything. #01496

Vehicle Burglary. 1200 block Crescent Heights between 3 and 11 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and pushed the back seat down but did not take anything. #01498

March 8

Grand Theft. 8200 block Sunset Blvd at 2:15 a.m.. An unknown suspect removed a gold chain from the victim’s neck while inside the club. #01490

Grand Theft. 600 block N Robertson Blvd between 1 and 2 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a wallet containing credit cards from the victim’s purse while inside the club. #01529

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 1100 block La Brea Avenue at 12:25 p.m. A man removed several items from display areas and left the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect punched the victim in the chest. The suspect was allowed him to leave the store and he was arrested by responding deputies. #01495

Vehicle Burglary. 8300 block Santa Monica Blvd between noon and 12:20 p.m. An unknown suspect removed cash from the passenger’s side door compartment. No sign of forced entry. #01502

Vehicle Burglary. Melrose Avenue / Westbourne Drive between 8:30 and 10:45 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #01508

March 9

Grand Theft. 8400 block Sunset Blvd between 10:45 p.m. and 1:10 a.m. An unknown suspect removed property from the center console and back seat of the unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was with a valet service when the incident occurred. #01532

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Melrose Avenue between 7 and 9:40 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window, pushed the rear seat down to gain access to the trunk and removed property.  #01527

I lived in the 9000 Cynthia building…in 1978. Now, it’s on the crime blotter. There WAS no “WeHo” back then; we called it “the county,” for short…free of Ed Davis’ (and Wm. Parker before him) rabidly anti-gay LAPD’s harrassment snd thuggery. It was a nice place in which to live…then. Rents weren’t oppressive, crime was very low, houses weren’t out of reach. There was a sense of community for the gay guys who’d settled there. Then came two things….meth and the pandemic. 40% of the gay population died within 4 years, causing Russians to encroach on the eastern side, while… Read more »
