Sprouts Farmers Market has announced that on July 31 it will be opening its location at 8550 Santa Monica Blvd., the new building on Santa Monica at West Knoll.
The 25,000 square foot store will be one of several major businesses there. Already open is the Wing, a co-working space for women. Also planned is a gym/fitness center and a restaurant and cafe. The building is owned by Michael Talla, who also owns the building on the west side of the project that houses Capitol Drugs, the LASC clothing store, and the 24 Hour Fitness gym.
Sprouts, often described as a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, will be the anchor tenant for the 42,000 square-foot building, which sits on a site that once housed the Athletic Club and Palms bar buildings, across from the Ramada Inn hotel. A Trader Joe’s sits almost across the street from the Sprouts location, and a Pavillion’s supermarket is on Santa Monica Boulevard a few blocks west.
Based in Phoenix, Sprouts is a grocery chain with more than 300 stores in the United States. The closest Sprouts to West Hollywood are on La Brea Avenue just south of the Gateway and in Westwood, Culver City, and Burbank. Sprouts describes itself as an organic and natural foods store.
Sprouts has announced that it is now recruiting employees for the 8550 Santa Monica Blvd. location. It will be filing about 150 full- and part-time jobs.
Employment opportunities included department managers, assistant department managers, and clerks and cashiers. Those interested can apply online for non-manager positions.
The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is currently accepting applications from Los Angeles-based nonprofits for its Neighborhood Grants program. Organizations that increase the access of children to fresh, healthy food and nutrition education in the local neighborhoods surrounding Sprouts stores may apply by visiting sprouts.com/neighborhoodgrants.

Square can be beautiful. This is a gorgeous building. Square yes, but with many outstanding character details & even more so with the east & west ends elevations. It’s the only building in my neighborhood (or maybe even in West Hollywood) that’s really eye catching & that will likely become a landmark design & one that will inevitably be admired by passers by. Including me.
Glad this store is opening. A small correction… The closest store is on La Brea just south of Target.
Thanks for catching that error! The story has been corrected.
