Several Incidents of Rough Crimes Reported in West Hollywood

West Hollywood experienced several incidents of rough crime between May 20 and 26 according to a weekly report issued by the local Sheriff’s Station.  One incident involved a man armed with a gun taking valuables from a man and woman waiting for an Uber ride on Sweetzer Avenue shortly after midnight.  In another incident on Lexington Avenue, a man punched another man in the back of the head twice then returned and attempted to hit him with a hammer. There also were two incidents were women walking on Sunset Boulevard were approached by people in cars who stole one woman’s purse and another’s duffel bag.  There were eight reported vehicle burglaries or break-ins in the same period.  What follows is a list of all Part I crimes with case number included.

May 20

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon (Suspect Arrested). 8200 block Norton Avenue at 2:10 p.m.. A man was walking his dog when he saw another man vandalize several vehicles. The victim attempted to intervene and the suspect chased after the victim and attempted to hit him with a broom handle. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03268

May 21

Aggravated Assault – Knife. 1100 block North Fairfax Avenue at 4:05 a.m. A man was asked to leave the location by an employee due to his erratic behavior. The suspect became upset and vandalized the victim’s vehicle with spray paint and threatened the victim while holding garden sheers in his hand.  The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03293

Grand Theft. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at  6:28 p.m. A woman cut the security cord and removed a purse from a display area and ran from the store. #03299

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 9 and 10 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front and rear passenger’s side windows and removed property from the front and rear floorboards. #03323

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 10 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #03341

Vehicle Burglary. 9100 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 10 and 11:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed property from the front seat. #03325

Vehicle Burglary. Almont Drive / Santa Monica Boulevard between 10 and 11:55 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the rear floorboard. #03326

May 23

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon (Suspect Arrested). 7000 block Lexington Avenue at 4:34 p.m. A man approached the victim from behind and punched him twice on the back on his head. The suspect returned a short time later and attempted to strike with a hammer but was unsuccessful. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03343

Grand Theft. 1100 block Greenacre Avenue. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. An unknown suspect ransacked the interior and removed property from the front seat of the unlocked vehicle. #03340.

Other Burglary. 8800 block Beverly Boulevard between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. An unknown suspect cut the chain link perimeter fence to gain access and removed tools. #03355, #03356, #03357, #03358

May 24

Grand Theft. 8700 block Shoreham Drive between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.  An unknown suspect took a dog from the patio of the residence. #03373

May 25

Strong Arm Robbery (Attempted). 8400 block Sunset Boulevard at 12:15 a.m. A woman was walking west bound on Sunset Boulevard when a man approached her from behind and attempted to pull her purse from her arm. A struggle ensued and the victim fell to the ground but was able to maintain possession of her purse. The suspect fled the area on foot. #03383

Armed Robbery. 900 block Sweetzer Avenue at 3:45 a.m. 0345. A man and woman were standing on the sidewalk waiting for their Uber when a man approached them while armed with a handgun and demanded their property. The victims complied and the suspect fled the area in a vehicle that was parked nearby. #03390

May 26

Grand Theft. 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard. Between 1 and 1:30 a.m. A woman had her purse taken from her arm while talking to a group of people. #03433.

Residential Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 900 block San Vicente Boulevard at 12:50 a.m. A man entered the apartment complex parking garage through the garage entrance and forced a storage room door open. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03418

Strong Arm Robbery. Sunset Boulevard / Sweetzer Avenue at 5 a.m. A woman was walking west bound on Sunset Boulevard when a vehicle suddenly stopped in the street near her location. Four men exited the vehicle and demanded the victim’s duffel bag and she complied. The suspects returned to the vehicle and fled the area. #03422

Strong Arm Robbery (Attempt). 900 block Palm Avenue at 9:40 a.m. A man was walking north bound on Palm Avenue when the suspect approached him from behind and demanded his gold bracelet. The victim ran to his home and lost sight of the suspect.  #03425

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Rosewood Avenue between 12:20 and 1:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #03429

Vehicle Burglary. 8500 block Rosewood Avenue between 1:05 and 2:25 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed property from the back seat. #03430

We need to increase the budget for the Sheriffs Department for more patrols
