Last week was a lucrative one for those stealing from cars, with 15 incidents reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, one of which involved the theft of $1,200 in cash from the back seat of a car and another involving $1,000 in cash stolen from the rear floorboard. (The video above, “Will People Steal Money From This Car? A Social Experiment,” illustrates the propensity of people to steal visible cash). There also were three armed robberies, one involving the theft of jewelry from a woman who was thrown to the ground during a drug deal gone bad.

Aggravated Assault – Knife (Suspect Arrested). 500 block North San Vicente Boulevard at 5:55 p.m. The victim asked a man to move his property from the victim’s driveway so he could park his car. The suspect became upset and pulled a folding knife from his pocket and threatened the victim. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03893

Grand Theft (Suspects Arrested). 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 4 p.m. Two women removed a large amount of food and clothing from display areas and left the store without payment. The suspects were detained by store security and arrested by responding deputies. #03946
Armed Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 8600 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 5 p.m. A man was asked to leave the store by an employee due to previous shoplifting incidents. Armed Robbery. 900 block La Jolla Avenue at 10 p.m. A man was walking northbound on La Jolla when two men approached him from behind and grabbed both his arms. One of the men was armed with a knife and demanded the victim’s cell phone and he complied. #03953

I’m sorry, but the people claiming to have had “cash” stolen are just trying to get a payout from their insurance company. 1. It is 2019 and no one carries any cash these days.
