Stabbing, Shooting, Punching: Crime Got Violent in WeHo Last Week

Vehicle burglaries in West Hollywood were down sharply last week, with only two reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. However, there were several incidents of more violent crime — a shooting that sent two men to the hospital, a stabbing and several incidents where people were punched with a fist. Below is a complete list of Part 1 (serious) crimes reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station from July 22 to July 28. July 22

Armed Robbery. 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard  at 3 a.m. A man was sleeping in the alley when two men attacked him and struck him with a broom handle several times. The suspects removed a cell phone from the victim’s pocket and fled the area on foot. #04891

July 24

Grand Theft. 7900 block Santa Monica Boulevard  at 2:16 a.m. An unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from a truck that was parked in the rear alley. #04958

Grand Theft. 600 block North San Vicente Boulevard  at 8:10 to 8:30 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a cell phone that was placed on the ground near the basketball courts. #04979

Grand Theft. 8500 block Sunset Boulevard  from 2:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. An unknown suspect removed tools from a construction site tool box. #04987

Residential Burglary. 8800 block Rosewood Avenue at 1:35 p.m. Two men smashed a front glass window to gain access and removed two laptop computers from the living room. #04967

Strong Arm Robbery. Laurel Avenue / Santa Monica Boulevard  at 3 a.m. A man was walking on the sidewalk when two men approached him and asked him for a cigarette. A short time later, the suspects began to punch the victim in the face and body. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects removed his car keys, $40 cash, and a necklace. #04957

Vehicle Burglary. 7300 block Santa Monica Boulevard  11:15 to 11:35 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a tote bag containing a laptop computer from the front seat. #04968

July 25

Aggravated Assault – Knife. 1100 block Ogden Drive at 10:50 a.m. A man that was visiting the victim pointed a knife at him and demanded money. The suspect left the apartment without any money. #04990

July 26

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet. 8200 block Sunset Boulevard  at 2:15 a.m. A man was punched several times in the face by unknown male patrons of the club after he pushed a dancer to the ground during a dispute over money. #05014

Strong Arm Robbery. 7300 block Santa Monica Boulevard  6:30 p.m. A man was sitting on a bench near the basketball courts when a man approached him and demanded his property. The victim complied, and the suspect fled the area on foot. #05040

Vehicle Burglary. 8700 block Sunset Boulevard  from 8:30 to 1030 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear windshield and removed a laptop computer, cell phone, shoes, clothing, and wallet from the interior. #04907

July 27

Aggravated Assault – Knife. Willoughby Avenue / Curson Avenue from 10 to 11 p.m. A man went to a hospital with a stab wound and reported he was walking eastbound on Willoughby Avenue when he was stabbed on his rear shoulder by an unknown suspect. The victim stated he never saw the suspect and was unable to provide a description. #05056

Strong Arm Robbery – Carjacking (Suspect Arrested). Martel Avenue / Santa Monica Boulevard  from 12:50 to 12:55 a.m.. A man approached the victim while he was inside of his vehicle at a stop light. The suspect forced the victim out of his vehicle and drove away. Responding units located the vehicle and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect was arrested. #05034

July 28

Aggravated Assault – Gun. 7400 block Fountain Avenue at 3:09 a.m. Two men were shot while attending a party. Both victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. This was an isolated incident related to the party. #05058

Grand Theft. 600 block North Robertson Boulevard  from 1:30 to 1:45 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a cell phone from the victim’s purse while on the dance floor. #05087

Where are the patrols by the LA Sheriffs!? Come on! It just keeps getting worse and worse! They need a dramatically increased presence. These attacks are happening on very visible streets!
