Todrick Hall is perhaps best known for making it to the semi-finals on American Idol and serving as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and, in West Hollywood, for his appearance as the lead in several of the city’s promotional videos.
Now he’s in the news after a series of tweets by his former personal assistant alleging sexual assault and harassment, racism, and other bad behavior.
In a tweet on Oct. 19, Tommy McKissock says he knows “every detail of his life including deliberate non-payment to people, racism, sexual assault, sexual harassment, online bullying, exploitation, illegal business practices.”
“I don’t want anything out of this,” he tweeted on Oct. 19. “I just want people to know he is a very bad person. He manipulates, hurts & deceives anyone he can use because he is a narcissist. I have many receipts- I produced a docu-series on him. Stay tuned.”
McKissock also shared a link to a lawsuit filed in New York by a lawyer for Stephen Land, who worked on Hall’s “Straight Outta Oz” tour. In the suit, which was settled out of court, Land said had failed to pay him for his work and claimed that Hall had sexually harassed him, having “persistently asked Land if he could feel his buttocks.”
Queerty, the popular gay website, reported that “McKissock wrote that he has been ‘silent for so long’ because Hall threatened him ‘severely.’ But now he’s ‘not scared’ of the American Idol alum attacking him online. ‘He settled his own sexual harassment lawsuit with a former tour manager as well,’ he added. ‘The details are gross’.”
Others jumped on the Tweet, with many criticizing McKissock for continuing to work with Hall after the alleged misbehavior. Some also shared their difficult experiences with Hall, including allegations that he didn’t pay them for their work. Perez Hilton, a popular social media gossip, tweeted that “@todrick Hall allegedly told a group of black dancers, ‘This is looking a little too chocolate… Can I get some lighter people behind me’.”
Todrick Hall jumped into the fight with a post on his personal Facebook page, which someone with access to it shared on Twitter:
“My comment; I adore Thom, like LOVE him. This is surprising to me, he hasn’t been paid yet, he will be…not because he’s trying to “expose” me but because he deserves it. I only got two texts, no calls, I was over seas opening my tour & that video has only been out for 2 weeks,” Hall tweeted.
Hall appeared in “Pretty Boys,” a video produced by the City of West Hollywood to urge residents to vote, and in “Alice in Wonderland,” posted above, which warned residents to be careful crossing the street.
Mr Hall thinks that having good exposure to the media make him a celebrity. He’s forgotten than the people that has helped him along the way can also expose him for his behaviour. I know his whole “helping gays” is just an act (I’ve worked closed to the people he deals with). He’s selfish, narcissistic, and vile. If many people are telling him to pay is bills is because it’s true. He’s always trying to come across as professional but it always fails to showcase the business side of the business his in. There are several people attesting to this… Read more »
What miserable losers they all are who want to tear down Todrick, or anybody, this way!! Spending many years on accepting everything and supporting him (Todrick), not warning him about certain mistakes, makes the accuser a fully responsible accomplice for all wrongdoings. This is not the platform to express complains, let alone, to achieve anything with this negativity. Jealousy-based hate radiates from this guy (the assistant), who is so desperate that he tried to use all the “trendy” accusations and pc-isms to hurt Todrick’s reputation. These days, even if nothing happens, people can be accused of misconduct, racism, etc. by… Read more »
While I’ve never met Todrick, let’s all admit he isn’t quite an A-list (or even B-list) star with an abundant cash flow. So I don’t blame him for trying to get things done cheaply and attempting to under pay some associates. This is Hollywood and there’s nothing new about that type of behavior. I also don’t find any fault in him saying background dancers assemblies looks a “little too chocolate”. He is a black man attempting to put his stamp on gay culture in a predominantly white industry. Of course he wants his performances to look as diverse as the… Read more »
I’ve followed Todrick from before he was on drag race. I remember him doing an interview on grindr regarding racism in the gay dating community. But if he did say lighter skin dancers, it’s not racist, it’s colourism which has be an huge issue in the black community for years especially in media where light skin and mixed race or could pass for white you got jobs and fame were dark skin black people fell behind. It’s one of the reason why skin bleaching became a think aswell as chemicals hair straightning. This can be dated back to slavery where… Read more »
Grindr does celebrity interviews?!
Fortunately, Mr. Hall never met Ed Buck.
I had a run in with Todrick Hall on the streets of West Hollywood. He has a vile personality. Once he shoved me on the sidewalk as he and a throng of dancers followed him. They were likely on the way to film a video that the City paid him handsomely for. Another time in Hi Tops he glared at me for several minutes because I would not let him cut in a very short line. It was pathetic. He is a gross guy and West Hollywood should stop funding his despicable antics. I am glad others are speaking out… Read more »
If this queen would have shoved me she would have been knocked into the cheap seats. He behaves like because people allow it.
