Jamie Adler, the daughter of the famous designer Phyllis Morris and the president and brand director of Phyllis Morris Originals and Circa Wallcovering, is the recipient of the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Legacy Award.

Adler is a founding member of The Avenues: Art, Fashion & Design District, now known as the West Hollywood Design District, a business improvement district formed to promote an area of the city that has been a prominent location for retailers and wholesalers of art, fashion, design, and furniture.

Adler also is known for keeping alive and growing the Phyllis Morris brand. Adler’s mother launched her design career in 1953 in Los Angeles by creating the “Poodle Lamp,” a sculpture of her own poodle topped with a little flared shade. “Within months she was casting them by the dozens and personally delivering them to clients in her pink convertible Cadillac.”

Phyllis Morris expanded to include original lamps, end tables, gothic throne chairs, canopy beds and other unique furniture that attracted celebrities and designers from around the world. Adler operates Phyllis Morris with husband, John Adler, and they are the parents of three children.  Her father, Nate Goller, is an attorney whose real estate holdings include The Factory, which is being transformed into the Robertson Lane hotel and retail development.

Adler accepted the award at the Chamber of Commerce’s 36th annual Creative City Awards ceremony at the 1 Hotel on Thursday night. Her acceptance of the award was preceded by the screening of the video posted above, which reflects her personality.

Other Creative City awards and their recipients were: Creative Concept Award: Pura Vida; Corporate Innovation Award: Healthy Spot; John Chase Art & Design Award: Conservatory West Hollywood; Innovative Sustainability Award: The RealReal; Creative Communication Award: Weho Times; WeHo Attraction Award: The Block Party, and Creative Community Service Award: Project Angel Food.
