There will be a candlelight vigil at West Hollywood Park on Tuesday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the death of Timothy Dean in Ed Buck’s apartment.
Dean was found dead in Buck’s apartment at 1234 N. Laurel Ave. on Jan. 7, 2018, of a methamphetamine drug overdose. His death sparked a stronger push for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and District Attorney Jackie Lacey to look again into the similar death on July 27, 2017, of Gemmel Moore.
Dean 55, was an African-American man known for his sense of style and as an avid basketball player. Moore, 26 at the time of his death, was an African-American sex worker who Buck paid for sexual encounters.
Buck remains in federal custody at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles awaiting trial in August 2020 on federal charges of providing drugs resulting in death and three counts of distributing methamphetamine. He has not been charged by Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey in the deaths of Moore and Dean.
The vigil will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at West Hollywood Park located at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd.
“Dean 55, was an African-American man known for his sense of style and as an avid basketball player.” Okay, that’s an improvement for when this site first reported the death and only listed Timothy Dean as a “porn star.” Someone did their homework and chose to do a little research on the deceased. “Moore, 26 at the time of his death, was an African-American sex worker who Buck paid for sexual encounters.” Well this still needs work. Maybe reach out to someone who knew Gemmel and find out a little more about him instead of racially objectifying the young victim… Read more »
Thanks for your insightful “soap box”. It is important that these men not simply become ciphers as they are real human beings, Tim Dean being a long time member of our community whose life reflects our collective foibles and successes. While I did not know Mr. Dean personally I have friends who did and they all said he was a wonderful human being who will be missed.
Timothy Dean’s tragic death could have been avoided if the West Hollywood political hacks had not done everything to halt any investigation of Ed Buck, a major Democrat donor. Trust the totally corrupt Ex-Mayor John Duran didn’t show up for this vigil to grandstand.
Dean died 1 month before his 55th Birthday according to the LA Times.
