Seniors and those with disabilities in West Hollywood and all of Los Angeles County now can have groceries delivered to their homes, free of charge.
“Critical Delivery Service” was launched by L.A. County’s Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services Department to help those unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic
The service will deliver groceries, household items and other vital necessities to those who are 60 years old or older, or have a permanent or temporary disability, or those people ages 18 to 59 who are “dependent adults.” That is a term used to describe an adult who is not a senior citizen and who needs assistance to carry out normal activities or to protect his or her rights.
Residents who qualify can use the service up four times a month with a limit of 40 miles on the distance the delivery person must travel over the course of the month. There is no cost for the delivery.
Anyone using the program must order the groceries or other items from the specific grocery store online or by the telephone, pay in advance for the groceries and ask that they be ready for pickup. A Critical Delivery Service coordinator will then arrange for a pickup and delivery. Deliveries can be scheduled by calling 888) 863-7411 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
