The City of West Hollywood will present information about its moratorium on evictions of apartment renters at an online seminar tomorrow.

The 60-minute seminar will take place at 2 p.m. Apartment residents and building owners can register online to watch it.

The West Hollywood City Council recently passed a temporary moratorium on evictions for nonpayment of rent resulting from a financial impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The moratorium is effective retroactively to March 16 and will expire on May 31 unless the City Council decides to extend it. After the moratorium expires, residents will have 12 months to pay the back rent due. More details about the residential eviction moratorium can be found on the city’s website.

That web page answers essential questions like what proof, if any, a tenant has to present to the landlord to justify the delay in paying rent and how the tenant must notify the landlord of the delay.

In an announcement of the online forum, the city notes that it “is for informational purposes only and is not intended to constitute legal advice; rather, all information, content, and materials available on this webinar are for general informational purposes only. Participants of this webinar should contact their attorney to obtain advice with respect to any particular legal matter. “
