There have been 166 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection among West Hollywood residents as of noon today. That is an increase of three over yesterday’s county.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Department reports there have been 1,204 newly confirmed infections across the county as of noon today, which brings the total to 42,037. There have been 46 new deaths associated with virus, bringing that total to 2,016.
As of today, 2,331 West Hollywood residents have been tested for the virus, an increase of 269 from yesterday’s count of 2,062. The Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard continues to report that only four West Hollywood residents have died of COVID-19-related infections.
The number of confirmed infections in Beverly Hills has increased by one to a total of 126 infections. The number of infections in Culver City has increased by four to 134. The number of infections in the Hollywood neighborhood increased by nine to 248. The number of confirmed infections in the Melrose neighborhood increased by eight to a total of 484.
The Health Department today reports that it is seeing the seven-day average of deaths per day decreasing for most groups and the three-day average for the number of people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 also decreased. The seven-day average of deaths per day is 37, a 12% decrease from the prior seven-day average. The three-day average for current hospitalizations per day is 1,532, a 15% decrease from the prior three-day average. LA County is on target for maintaining adequate hospital capacity, including capacity in intensive care units and adequate numbers of ventilators, and approaching the goal of testing 15,000 people per day, the report says.
In today’s announcement of COVID-19 infections, the Health Department says that “as the recovery journey continues and more people are out of their homes, it may be more difficult to slow the spread of COVID-19. Because there is a 14-day incubation period for COVID-19, the actions everyone takes today will impact where these numbers are in two or three weeks.
“Everyone must continue to follow distancing and infection control protocols, stay at least six feet apart and wear a clean cloth face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when in contact with other people not in your household. Businesses will need to continue to implement their physical distancing and infection control practices that protect both employees and customers. The best protection against COVID-19 continues to be to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, self-isolate if you are sick, practice physical distancing (especially by staying at home) and wear a clean face covering when in contact with others from outside your household.
Beginning Saturday, the City of West Hollywood will require everyone to wear face coverings in public, such as scarves (dense fabric without holes), bandanas, neck gaiters, or similar coverings of any other material that reduces transmission of germs anytime they are out in public. Face coverings will not be required for children under two years of age, anyone who has trouble breathing, or anyone who is otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance. Children between two- and eight-years-old should only wear face coverings with adult supervision.
Such coverings have been determined to reduce the likelihood that an infected person can transmit the COVID-19 virus through the air by coughing or sneezing or even talking. Some people who are infected may be unaware of it and not showing symptoms at first.
Sheriff’s deputies will monitor compliance with the face covering rule and, according to the city, “will provide education and warnings, and will cite as appropriate. Not wearing a face covering is considered a crime and individuals are subject to citation.”

Yes, they will, as testing increases. – What you fail to mention is the number of people that recover. 99.9989% Recover. Why is this not your headline ? – Four Deaths. 37k people in the city. – Seems you are in lock-step with politicians….. keep the fear going….even as the numbers do not support. You and the city representatives are doing a dis-service. Willfully turning a blind eye…. in order to harm lives, and livelihoods. Harm people and families,… Read more »
Legitimate reporting means reporting without fear or favor, which is an essential principle for WEHOville. WEHOville also intends to give voice to all opinions, however we won’t publish stories or opinion piece that include erroneous “facts” or slanderous or profane statement or allegations. We also don’t publish data that we would love to publish but don’t have access to (e.g. the ages of those in WeHo who have been confirmed to have been infected and the area of the city they live in). And finally, the recovery percentage that you cite cannot be validated in California, where many counties (including… Read more »
