ABC 7 is asking people to share their Pride photos and videos from years past so that it can feature them in a collaborative celebration of the 50th anniversary of LA Pride with Christopher Street West.
Christopher Street West is the nonprofit organizer of the annual Pride parade and festival. It organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, in Hollywood.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, CSW is unable to stage this year’s Pride parade and festival, usually scheduled for the second weekend in June. So it is working this year on producing a “virtual” celebration.
“We’ll be featuring your submissions throughout June’s Pride month to honor 50 years of fight, resistance, acceptance and celebration,” says the ABC announcement. It asks those submitting photos and videos to fill out a form that can be accessed by clicking here and sending them.
