The Health Department has confirmed 1,337 new infections and 33 new COVID-19-related deaths in Los Angeles County. That means the total of those confirmed to have been infected is 75,084 and those who have died totals 2,959.

The Health Department reports that 4,454 West Hollywood residents have been tested for the virus and the number of those who have died from COVID-19-related illnesses remains at four.

The Hollywood neighborhood now has 342 confirmed infections, an increase of two from yesterday’s count. The Melrose neighborhood’s infections have increased by one to 696.

There are 1,288 people who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 related illness, in Los Angeles County, with 31% of these people in the intensive care unit and 25% are on ventilators. Testing capacity continues to increase in LA County, with testing results available for nearly 841,000 individuals and 8% of people testing positive.

The virus is easily transmitted among people in contact with each other, which means everyone must continue to follow distancing and infection control directives and wear a clean cloth face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when in contact with other people not in your household. Someone who thinks he or she could be positive and is awaiting testing results should stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days and 72 hours after symptoms and fever subside, or until that person receives a negative result. A person who tests positive for COVID-19 should plan on receiving a call from a contact tracer to discuss how to protect themselves and others, to find out where they may have been, and who they were in close contact with while infectious.
