Health Department Reports 3,628 New COVID-19 Infections, Some from Delay in Test Results

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reports 3,628 new confirmed COVID-19 infections, a number that includes earlier positive results that were not made available because of issues with the State of California’s electronic lab system. The Health Department today reports 53 new deaths from COVID-19 related illnesses.

To date, the Health Department has reported 172,325 COVID-19 infections in Los Angeles County and a total of 4,351 deaths.

As of today, four more West Hollywood residents are confirmed to have the virus, bringing the overall count to 407. The number of WeHo residents who have died of COVID-19 related illnesses remains at five. In Beverly Hills, the number of confirmed infections is now 527, an increase of five from yesterday’s count. The number of deaths remains at nine.  In Culver City there are 306 confirmed infections, an increase of three from yesterday. The number of deaths remains at 27.

Hollywood has 793 confirmed infections, up 20 from yesterday’s count of 757. The number of deaths has increasd by three to a total of nine. The Melrose neighborhood has 1,309 confirmed infections, up 40 from yesterday. There has been no increase in the 47 deaths reported earlier.

As noted before, one way the virus can be transmitted is through a cough, a sneeze or even through air that comes from the mouth when someone talks. For that reason, residents must wear face coverings when out in public and can be cited for not doing so. The citations come with a $250 fine and a $50 administrative fee.
