As of today, there are 1,476 newly confirmed COVID-19 infections in Los Angeles County and 23 new deaths from conditions associated with the virus.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health says that that brings the total number of Los Angeles County residents who have been infected with the virus to 192,167 and the total number of those who have died of virus-related illnesses to 4,692. Testing results are available for 1,790,586 individuals with 10% of all people testing positive.
With two newly confirmed infections in West Hollywood, the total as of today is 433. The number of WeHo residents who have died of COVID-19 related illnesses remains at five. In Beverly Hills, the number of confirmed infections has increased by one to 541. The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Beverly Hills remains at 10. In Culver City the count remains at 325. The number of deaths remains at 29.
Hollywood has 871 confirmed infections, an increase of five from Saturday’s count. The number of deaths remains at nine. The Melrose neighborhood has five newly confirmed infections, bringing its total to 1,446. The number of deaths to date is 52.

As noted before, one way the virus can be transmitted is through a cough, a sneeze or even through air that comes from the mouth when someone talks. For that reason, residents must wear face coverings when out in public and can be cited for not doing so. The citations come with a $250 fine and a $50 administrative fee.
