A virtual celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in the United States, will take place on Aug. 30.
The event will feature a panel discussion moderated by Sandy Banks of the Los Angeles Times. Speaker will include activist Camille Acevedo; Kat Calvin, founder of Spread the Vote; Dr. Treva Lindsey, associate professor of women’s, gender and sexuality studies at Ohio State University, and Bamby Salcedo, president of the TransLatin@ Coalition. Carol Moon Goldberg, president of the California League of Women Voters, will talk about how to understand ballot initiatives.
Sponsors of the event are the National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles and the City of West Hollywood and its Women’s Advisory Board.
