Adult film star Ron Jeremy pleaded not guilty Wednesday to seven new sexual assault charges involving alleged attacks on a half- dozen women, one of which allegedly occurred in West Hollywood, bringing the number of his alleged victims to 23.
Jeremy — whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt — is now facing 11 counts of forcible rape, eight counts of sexual battery by restraint, six counts of forcible oral copulation, five counts of forcible penetration by a foreign object and one count each of sodomy, assault with intent to commit rape, assault with intent to commit forcible digital penetration, penetration by a foreign object on an unconscious or sleeping victim and lewd conduct with a 15-year-old girl.
The crimes allegedly occurred between 1996 and this year.
Prosecutors declined 14 other potential cases Wednesday because they were outside the statute of limitations, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The newest charges involve alleged victims ranging in age from 17 to 38, including a 19-year-old woman who was allegedly raped during an October 1996 photo shoot in the San Fernando Valley, a 26-year-old woman who was allegedly raped at an October 2000 party at a nightclub and a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly raped at a Woodland Hills home in 2008, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The other new charges involve a young woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted at a strip club in the City of Industry some time between 2002 and 2003, a woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted at Jeremy’s home in 2010, and a 38-year-old woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted in January 2013 at a West Hollywood bar he frequented, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Jeremy — who was arrested June 23 — remains jailed in lieu of $6.6 million bail.
He was initially charged in June with raping three women and sexually assaulting another woman, then subsequently charged in August with 20 additional rape and other sexual assault charges involving 12 more women and a teenage girl.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the case stemmed from a two-year investigation, which is continuing.
Jeremy is due back in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Dec. 14, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to require him to stand trial.
If convicted as charged, he could face a potential maximum state prison sentence of more than 330 years to life, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
