West Hollywood recorded its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day on Sunday, while hospitalizations in Los Angeles County rose to their highest numbers yet.
West Hollywood saw 29 new cases on Sunday for a cumulative total of 1,121 cases. There were no new deaths from COVID in the city. WeHo’s cumulative death toll remains at nine deaths.
Some 159 more people were hospitalized on Sunday than on Saturday, with a total of 4,009 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. That 4,009 people hospitalized is a new record for the county, beating the previous record of 3,850 which was set on Saturday. Of those hospitalized, 21% are in the ICU.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health did not release any information on Sunday about the availability of ICU beds in 11-county Southern California region. However, on Saturday, the ICU bed availability for the region was 5.3%, down from 6.2% on Friday, 7.7% on Thursday, 9% on Wednesday, 10.1% on Tuesday and 10.9% on Monday.
Los Angeles County reported 12,731 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. That brings the county to a cumulative total of 525,486 cases since the pandemic began in March.
The county announced 29 more people dead from the coronavirus on Sunday, pushing the county’s cumulative death toll to 8,298 people.
More than 4,129,000 people in LA County have been tested for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The test positivity rate currently stands at 12%.

- Culver City – 14 new cases for a total of 845 cases.
- Hollywood – 37 new cases for a total of 2,447 cases.
- Melrose neighborhood – 38 new cases for a total of 3,536 cases.
- Miracle Mile – 7 new cases for a total of 377 cases.
- Park La Brea – 4 new cases for a total of 252 cases.
- Santa Monica – 35 new cases for a total of 1,907 cases.
